A Crypto Trader’s Girlfriend. When the currency is in a free-fall...

in #freewrite6 years ago

What does it mean to be a girlfriend or a partner of a crypto trader?

That means your conversations circle around cryptocurrency: what is emerging, what it falling, where are the valleys and what's peaking... We talk about it. A lot.

At first this all sounds like gibberish - a new language. Then you start to understand. Then you are down in crypto-world looking at charts, checking the news, and reading white papers....

Crypto-world is abundant with news and hopes - and the excitement is infectious!
You are celebrating - to new ICOs and new emerging currencies!!
To the rise of old good currencies that we hodl for the long term investments!
Cheers!

Then your partner wakes you up in the middle of the nigh: the "old and good" is in a free fall. And so is your sleep from now.

You nurse, make tea, sit near and hug your partner for hours watching the fall happen. You promise to them things are going to be OK (and drown your own doubts in warm tea and supportive hugs). You do what any loving person would do - care and nurture.

At the dawn you both decide to take a break from worries and turn the outside world off: in the end, regardless, it is your love and your family that is important. And your trust in your intelligence. The intelligence says: hold. And you give to your love - because it is time to give.

Then next day comes. New hopes, new wins and a relief that you've stayed with priorities: love, family, and intelligence.
Cheers to that!

Much Love!
Stay Awesome!

Ha, Yes, my wife would agree with all of this. I am doing my best to not talk about crypto in daily conversation.

Hahaha! I bet it's difficult: cryptoworld is so dynamic it is hard to keep it out of conversations.
I am actually quite grateful for our discussions: I'm learning about something new and it is very exciting. But yes it can get overwhelming too.
Especially when we are hodling 😉. The pressure reflects in everything and that's when I know it's time to just be supportive.

Yes, but it's also nice to not have every second conversation start to turn to crypto. I found the best thing about the most recent downturn is that all my short term trades are far below what I bought them for, and so I don't bother checking them more than once in the morning.

That's a great strategy! We also try to find emerging currency and buy it low.
I'm glad the market pull down seems to be a temporary thing - seeing currencies grow is always more exciting.

Yes, definitely more exciting. But it is only gains on paper until you get it out. I did use the downturn to invest in some cheap ETH and some altcoins. But I did have to check with my wife if that was okay. That is always a bit of an awkward conversation to start. But on the other hand, she does realise we have got our initial investment out with profit as well.

So good that you are making it a family decision! I prefer to know where we are in the game so I know how to help. I feel being part of this as well and it gives me an inventive to do research on my own and invest time in my own learning.
I agree sometimes we may not realize a lot that's happening on your guys' journey and we may not know the magnitude of gains or losses. Hopefully we can compensate that by listening and reflecting on your thoughts.

It is only a family thing when I need to use some fiat investment. Otherwise, within the crypto trading/investment itself, she leaves it up to me. But emotional support is always good!

Best of luck in your investments!
