Kayla was watching her daddy play a shoot em up game on the laptop. All of a sudden he turns and sees Kayla giving a funny look.
"what is with that face young lady?"
"I'm sniffing the air, daddy. It smells like cake but it smells funny."
At that he sniffs the air himself. "well you know your mom likes to make weird things. Why don't you go check it out for us?"
Kayla got down and half trotted to the kitchen.
"momma, whatcha doing?"
"Making a corn cake, hunny"
"huh! whats a corn cake?"
"Well daddy wanted corn bread with dinner and it always falls apart, so tonight I am making us corn cake."
Kayla gave a shrug "ok"
She skips back to daddy. "daddy, mommy is making you a corn cake."
I can smell it from here! Mothers of invention.

Thank you very much for dropping me the freewrite :) And most definitely, lol. If there is a way to turn a meal into something better, mothers will figure it out. I love corn bread but struggle with not having them crumble.
