Lab experiment observation must correspond to result is something we heard of the most during our course lab session. This is also a way to train one's mind to logical thinking and reasoning.
So when one data does not correspond to our initial expectation then we will have to scramble into investigative mode, usually first question we ask is not "Why"? Instead we tend to say what's goes wrong? Did we setup our test wrongly, or did we miss any steps along the way? Especially so when you are the only one with data that does not correspond to expected result.
But the workplace would be different, we can heard explanation when we do not get a performance rating of our expectation that Hard work does not correspond to result or current result does not correspond to potential.
We are living in a complicated impression based society?
