Harry the House

Harry the house wanted a coat. Every winter he watched all the people going in and out of houses bundled up in their winter coats. Some coats were puffy, some didn't look warm to Harry but they sure looked pretty. Coats of every color of the rainbow were seen year after year by Harry while ice and snow fell on him making him very cold.

He tried once to shiver the snow and ice all off himself but the human family just about broke his hearing with all the screaming about the world ending so he never, ever tried that again.

Each Winter came and went with Harry freezing and wishing for a Winter jacket. His favorite dream was of a Winter coat with fur all on the inside in a nice bright blue color.

How wonderful it would be to change colors and not always be yellow thought, Harry.

Harry just felt something missing in his life never having a winter coat. He knew his job was to keep his belly warm for the human family but it still didn't stop him from wishing things could be different.

January came once again and with it the very cold bleak days that dragged on forever. By the end of the month, Harry was really down in the dumps. He had the winter blues. Chatting it up with Harriette the house, who lived next door, didn't even bring a smile to his face! You knew it he was in a very sad place!

On January 23 a thundersnow storm came bringing lightning along with it too. Harry made sure his foundation was as study as he could make it while waiting out the storm. Giving a wink at Harriet, because she was afraid of storms, they both braced for the worst.

The storm lasted hours! When it was almost over there was a HUGE CRACKLING sound and poor Harry started on fire!

Sirens could be heard coming towards the house while flames were seen starting to grow around poor Harry.

The firemen finally pulled up in front of the house. They worked as fast as they could and soon had the fire under control. Most of Harry was saved. He was going to need a new roof, 1 new eye, and new siding but Harry was still straight and strong where it counted.

The next day five vans pulled up with twenty people all filling out of the vans like ants. Scaffolding was set up again Harry and then.........

Harry's wish came true.

Harry was lovingly wrapped in a protective bubble of plastic. In some places around the bubble a fur-like pink substance, he wasn't sure what it was but it reminded him of fur, was placed next to him also.

The next 4 weeks Harry's lived his dream while the workman fixed him up as good as new.

His dream of wearing a coat to keep him warm had come true but he realized the high price he paid to have his wish come true.

Sometimes it is best to just be who and what you are while enjoying others doing the same, thought Harry.

Seriously, I wish I could animate/draw well enough. I'd totally help you with this. I need to get my daughter working on it!

Of course we also don't want to inspire kids to burn down their houses so they can have a new coat... hmmmmm

yes, burning down a house for a new coat is a BAD idea LOLLL

Oh my, this was so sweet and sad, @snook! I love it! And I agree with @eroticabian, this would go great with illustrations :)
