I went to see my primary care physician this past Thursday and he said all my numbers looked good. He said I'm going to be frank with you, you haven't dropped any weight since your last visit and there's no way I'm going to make 80, and that I might have a hard time making 70. I turned 60 in February, so this was kind of a kick in the nuts. He wants me to see a specialist in gastric bypass and is getting me a referral. I told him I would go talk to him and see what he has to say. I'm Italian, and I really enjoy my food, I can't imagine eating a meal that is basically the size of an egg. So I can enjoy the next 10 years of my life or be miserable for 20, not to mention the potential problems that could arise during surgery. I left his office believing I could lose weight without this drastic measure of a gastric bypass, so I started my usual diet of high protein, low carbs, and lost five pounds in four days. I feel pretty good tonight and I'm excited to see how next week goes. Cross your fingers!

Thanks for sharing. It sounds like you're off to a great start, don't give up!
Thank you for the encouragement @roboticarrow 👍
Yes, that would be quite a kick in the nuts. Sounds like you're going the right route doing it yourself rather than going under the knife--everything in moderation is my motto. I know I'd hate having a doctor tell me I've got 5 or 10 or 20 years, life is for living and not fear.
I understand perfectly Bruni, my Italian friend. When it's about food, I suggest to go always for quality and try to moderate the quantity.. (ma una bella Fiorentina ha tutte e due le cose!)
Bruni, I pray for you! For your healing! Remain the same cheerful!
You must tell me how to prepare a real Italian pasta))
Good luck with the diet! I think the high-protein, low-carbs diet is the best. Whatever you do, don't go for the bypass!!!
