I met up with an old friend tonight to shoot pool and catch up. This was someone I used to work with, and we get together once a year or so to talk about how our jobs, families, and lives are going. We always seem to do this over a pool table, and a couple drinks. I've found that this setting is a good stimulant for conversation. I'm not terribly social, so shooting pool gives us something to do and takes the focus off of conversing. After starting to play, the conversing just comes naturally.
Neither of us are very good at pool, but that's not the point. The point is spending time with a friend, and connecting. The pool is just a means to an end.
