Writer Jack Nicholson (Jack Nicholson) comes for an interview with the host company "Overluck" Bruce Nelson (Bari Nelson) to get a job as a watchman for the winter. He plans to live with his wife Wendy (Shelly Duval) and Danny's son (Danny Lloyd) in a hotel separated from the rest of the world by snow debris and working on her new novel.
