RECYCLING AND CHILDREN
Recycling is the process suffered by waste materials when they are collected and transformed into new materials, which can be used or sold as new products. The recycling process has become an activity that helps solve many of the problems caused by the millions of tons of solid waste, which are produced daily by human beings all over the world, and created by the modern way of life.

The team of @sc-v and the team of @childrensclothes, has decided to work on this theme for this year 2019, as a thread in their classroom programming and the project we have called: "GREEN FOOTPRINT"
Our goal is for our children to have a first taking contact in the work of recycling, starting by separating the garbage generated in the classroom, knowing the different containers that we find in the streets and seeing how
It is possible to reuse some of the materials that could be considered waste.
With small gestures like those that occur daily in the classrooms, we are contributing a grain of sand for the care of our planet and respect for the environment.
How are we doing it?
The pedagogical proposal consists in treating the recycling issue by dividing it in the three quarters as follows:
- During the first quarter we will focus on the PAPEL, and the activities that are carried out will be very linked with this
material and with all the possibilities it offers. - In the second quarter we have planned to work the PLASTIC without
put aside the recycling of paper. - And for the third quarter we will work on the importance of WATER care.
The main idea is that children begin to become familiar from their first months with these objects that are so well known and at the same time very attractive. That they can see them in very different ways and experiment with all their senses and the possibilities they offer them.
Children learn by observing, manipulating, experimenting with the materials we provide; Our objective is to bring you elements as simple as paper, cardboard, plastic in different formats and water. And offer them different games and ways of learning. We chose a story to work on theme, in which its protagonist "El Capitan Ecomán", a super - hero of recycling, that helps a people to recycle their waste, reuse and get it to turn it into a wonderful place. In addition to the story, we built the puppet "Ecomán" with recycled material, which climbs on a swing greets us from above the mornings when we arrived at school. Our "Captain Ecomán" guards three containers made with paper that remind us what to introduce in each of them, to make proper use and recycle properly.
Paper and cardboard
In the first trimester we will use a lot of newspaper, with which we can tear, wrinkle, pile and form fun balls of paper.
The plastic
In the second quarter, plastic will be the main element, it is a very common element that we find everywhere; before throwing it in the yellow container we can think about giving it another use, as long as it is a safe material for the children. For this we need the participation of families again.
Water
In the last quarter we have programmed to work the water, it is a natural resource that we must all take care of since it is essential for life.It is used for many activities that we perform daily and in which children are present, either as mere observers or directly experimenting with it.
It is important to start early to raise awareness among our children about the importance of making good use of our most precious asset, water. And for that we have programmed activities in which we will be able to observe and experience them. For example we have thought about creating space with plants that we will have to take care of. We will plant seeds and give importance to the gesture of watering them when they need it. In the patio we will create a garden area with some seasonal flowers, which we will go out to water when necessary.
On the other hand we will encourage water savings every time we wash your hands, when it rains we will collect water in cubes and with it you will water the seeds and the plants of our small garden. In short, what we want as an educational team is that new generations see recycling as something natural, as a way of life that brings great benefits to all, thus creating an environmental culture that will lead to a more sustainable future.
