Your landlord is going to hate me for this.
Excuse 35:
“My daughter has asthma and I can't turn down the heat.”
Another excuse for a big heating bill. This excuse, however, involves a child with a medical problem which adds an interesting twist that as a minimum should cause the landlord to have a fleeting momentary glimpse of sympathetic concern. The trouble is, it's probably too fleeting and you still need to let the landlord know when you'll have the money.
