Hello Tatjanastan, there are many popular people in my country; but, I want to highlight José Gregorio Hernández, he was born in Isnotú (state of Trujillo) on October 26, 1864 and died in Caracas on June 29, 1919.

He was known in life for his kindness, rectitude and fervent dedication to alleviate human suffering. He was a prominent student and graduated with a degree in philosophy in 1884. He entered the Central University, where he obtained the title of Physician on June 28, 1888.

When he was preparing to practice the profession in Caracas, thanks to a scholarship, he traveled to Europe to study in Paris, some subjects of which he did not have much knowledge here. This is how José Gregorio prepared himself with depth in the areas of: Microbiology, Normal Histology, Pathology, Bacteriology and Experimental Physiology. On his return from France he was appointed professor of the first Chair of Bacteriology in South America. He devoted himself to teaching, professional practice and religious practice. For this reason, he was a teacher from 1891 to 1916. He distinguished himself by his unwavering faith, his perfect chastity, his humility and profound simplicity, his professional excellence, his tender devotion to the Virgin and his great love for God and neighbor. . On two occasions he wanted to be a priest, but his physical condition was his biggest impediment.

Between the scientific publications they are "Elements of Bacteriology" (1906), "On the Angina of Cofre of the paúdica Nature" and in 1912 publishes "Elements of Philosophy"

On June 29, 1919, while taking medication to a needy patient, he was hit by a car in Caracas.

Venezuelans venerate him for his virtues as a doctor and for his religious vocation. For this reason, several miracles and healings have been attributed to him for several years, so much so that in 1949 the Vatican began its investigation and in 1986 he was assigned the hierarchy of "Venerable", one of the steps in the process of beatification. according to the parameters of the Catholic Church. His remains are in the parish of the Temple of La Candelaria.
