After passing the trial period on the PTR Overwatch, Blizzard will officially launch the new Overwatch Junkertown folder on September 19, 2017 and be enjoyed by all Overwatch players!
Junkertown is a new Overwatch folder that has escort mode (escorting payload to a certain position as its objective). Taking the setting of a desert in the Australian outback, Junkertown is home to the Junkrat hero and Roadhog.
Much of the area in Junkertown has been destroyed after Omnic Crisis, an Omnic (Robot) rebellion against humans as its creator.
In this video, Blizzard also mentions a character who became Junkertown ruler, the Junker Queen. He is a skilled fighters figure in the Scrapyard (gladiator arena for the Junkers).
"We have had so many opportunities to focus our story on Overwatch and Talon organizations, but we did not get many chances to explain some other organizations," Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan said via video.
"I hope the presence of Junkertown can be a clue to Junkrat, Roadhog, Junker Queen and junker as a whole."
The new Overwatch folder, Junkertown is expected to release along with a new update for Mercy's hero. On the update, there is a significant reshuffle for Mercy's hero skills.
Skillultimate Resurrection that serves to resurrect dead team members simultaneously has been replaced with Valkyrie skill. This skill can improve the ability and power of Mercy, even able to make Mercy to fly!
Meanwhile, Mercy's Resurrection skill will be an ordinary skill, but is limited only to raise individual team members who die and have a long cooldown.
The release of the Junkertown folder will also be followed by this week's free Overwatch tournament which runs from September 22 to September 26 for PC platforms, PlayStation 4, Xbox One.
