وقتی دوازده‌ساله بودم، یک روز متوجه وسایل و اسباب‌بازی‌هایی شدم که تنها گوشه‌ای از خانه انبار کرده بودم، و هیچ استفاده‌ی دیگه‌ای از اونا نمی‌شد. بنابراین، به فکر استفاده از آنها افتادم. مکعب روبیک یکی از اون وسیله‌ها بود که سه چهار سالی می‌شد از جاش تکون نخورده بود و فقط نقش یه وسیله‌ی تزیینی رو توی اتاقم داشت. بالاخره رفتم سراغ حل کردنش. اوایل اعتماد به نفسم کمتر بود، ولی با درست کردن یک وجه از مکعب فهمیدم می‌تونم این کارو انجام بدهم.
بالاخره بعد از چند روز مکعب رو کامل کردم، و این کاری بود که خودم هم باورم نمی‌شد. بعد از چند بار به هم زدن و دوباره ساختنش، ظاهرش مثل اول قشنگ نبود، اما ارزشش برای من خیلی بیشتر بود.
