Hello LoL Steemians,
This is just going to be an informative post about Riot Game's imminent updates to League as soon as Worlds 2017 concludes. The current changes about to take place are probably the most major and most intriguing ones in the history of LoL. Most of this post will focus on whats being said in quotes on the leagueoflegends website here: http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/featured/preseason-update and will be split into three main categories:
New Runes ; Levelling Beyond 30 ; IP -> Blue Essence
But other changes include: New Emotes (Veteran Rewards) that unlock based on experience (like champ mastery) and a limited edition shop (Yes, URF Warwick is coming back)!
So Lets get Started!!
New Runes:
Let me just say - the new runes idea is pretty amazing! It focuses on different playstyles being split into 5 Categories:
- Precision (Improved Attacks and Sustained Damage)
- Domination (Burst Damage and Target Access)
- Sorcery (Empowered Abilities and Resource Manipulation)
- Resolve (Durability and Crowd Control)
- Inspiration (Creative Tools and Rule Bending)

And Heres What Riot has to say about it:
We’re combining runes and masteries into a single, streamlined system that you can use to adapt and customize your playstyle in champ select. Runes Reforged concentrates your pre-game power into a focused set of options, so every choice matters more. All 60 of the new runes are free.
In my opinion, this new runes system allows for a more class-based benefits - for example, Precision for ADCs, Sorcery for Glass Cannon Mages, and Resolve for CC Tanks!
Oh, and I almost forgot! Here's another Screenshot:
So you see, each of these class-specialised runes are called Keystone Runes, much like the Keystone Masteries that occurred a few seasons ago. Lets just say, they are OP!! Whats amazing is that on the website (http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/featured/preseason-update), you can click each of these images and they will allow you to use the tool to theory craft!! Incredible!! Amarite?!!
Welp, they also said this:
With runes soon becoming free, we want to show our appreciation for those of you who've spent the most on runes over the years. So, for every rune or rune page you bought before the 2017 season began, we'll give you a little blue gift. Runes purchased during the 2017 season will be fully refunded.
Which will certainly make everyone happy :)!
Levelling Up Beyond 30:
So another major Preseason Change is Leveling up Beyond 30! Heres what league has to say about this:
We're removing the level 30 cap, and the new cap is… infinity! We're also replacing the IP grind with a revamped rewards system that levels up with you.
Now this may seem a bit like another game (ahem: Dota 2!), but its an idea I think will be great for the millions of lvl 30 capped players that are losing interest in gaining experience points or rewards.
However, this new system also resets all current level 30s to lvl 1 (I think).
But league also introduced a much better incentive generator with its new system: Level up, Get loot:
Instead of getting IP after every game, you'll receive an unlocked chest each time you level up. Capsules contain champ shards and blue essence, and if you hit special milestone levels, you'll earn special rewards like gemstones or rare emotes.
Now this seems much easier to grind the now over 100 champs in the game, and who does not like rare emotes to increase our BM? hmm?
Another small incentive booster is the Veteran Rewards coming out this preseason:
Show off your veteran status with an exclusive emote. The more you've played, the better your emote will be.
Let me say: These emotes look SICK!
And Finally, IP Turns Blue:
To tie all these changes together, we're connecting the leveling and loot systems by merging IP and blue essence. The newer, bluer essence will work in all the places IP and BE worked before, including loot and the champion store. And everything in the store will cost the same as it did in the old, IP-based system—for example, it'll be 6300 BE for a newer champ like Kayn.
