First off, I don’t want to minimize your hurdles, I acknowledge that they are very real.

That being said, you can do it! Don’t give up, I can see what sets you appart from so many other devs. You are kind charismatic and a very thoughtful capitalist which is much needed in the indie game scene.

Don’t even look at all the games that forever stalled, look at what you are doing and what makes you unique. As an artist it is difficult to break as well, more of a distant dream and then a reality. Teaching art however, pays the bills while allowing me to be creative.

My partner also struggles with resolutions around fitness and food. He is also a game dev who has spent years pushing for his love project. He has shown me how hard it is for indie devs to trade labour, to get investors or even to go back to school!

I completely feel for you but don’t give up!

Also, your camera presence has improved a lot since I started watching your videos. You could be more goofy and a bit more energetic but you literally have a gold mine to built off of. You are already relatable, your English accent is flawless, you are honest, to the point, you do long takes, you can be vulnerable, you are passionate and ultimately, I think people want to be your friend. You are also quite handsome;)

I want to see you believe in yourself a little more, you can give yourself credit for everything you’ve done! For example, this video could have used a positive last point about what makes what you wish to create completely unique. You don’t have to justify how realistic these goals are, you owe it to you public to convey your vision.

There are a lot of games out there both mainstream and indie, what will make your game truly stand out?

I upvoted myself which is out of character but I wanted my message to have some visibility. Speaking of, the kind of engagement you get on Steemit is outstanding, you must be doing something right!

What I feel makes your game unique from what I’ve seen is the look of the protagonist. Dressed with a plain t-shirt and jeans, he is your everyday guy we can all identify with. He is a skilled martial artist which he uses to move forward in the world and his combos are second to none. Not unlike you, he is on a journey of self discovery which could be portrayed by idle animations of looking around and taking in the mundane city-scape all around him.

I would be curious to learn more about his back-story and what gives him the will to fight. Perhaps you could bring your love for food to his backstory and even game mechanics separate from the fighting.

Everybody loves a good underdog story, your character knows how to tumble and get back up when he falls. He may move forward in this platform universe but I’m more curious about why he would go back in the level.

It is obvious that you are giving the best of you to this game and the devolpment is an amazing journey to be a part of so thanks for sharing it!

it was a simple test character but i realized that people like it! you're not the first to tell me about the protagonist. i've talked to a friend and we thought it'd be nice to have him as a programmer who got fired and got pissed off at everybody. i really haven't thought of a concrete storyline yet but it's definitely gonna be some skinny dude running around kicking people's ass :)

i think we all love underdogs. especially when it's the little guy fighting enemies much bigger than him. a big thanks for the comments and have an amazing monday! 👍

thanks man i almost missed this one! this is so kind of you.
honestly i rarely think about how my game is going to stand out. i just try to make the shit that i enjoy playing 😆
it's what's awesome about being indie. you don't even have to try to make it better than anything. it's a double edged sword where you might be spending a lot of time and effort making shitty games.

at least it's fun and i'm doing what i've always enjoyed. starting with a very first level i made years ago, i'd say i've come pretty far. so i'm not ready to give up. gotta keep going and see where this takes me :)
