Its the year 2525 and the world isn't as it once was. Plagues, wars, advancements, and setbacks have changed the way people live, work, and even their genetic makeup. Still, we have made it, and in WayFinder the intrepid crew of the first interstellar voyage is about to take place.

The ship has been on autopilot since it has left earth. Its final destination? Trappist 1 a red dwarf with the possibility of life on not just one, but all the planets within the system. Along the way the Wayfinder's mission is to launch WayPoints (special space time distortion generators that allow for near instant travel between two points) so that other vessels can travel between systems easily.

The game starts right after the first jump you as a player must pick a class and animal type to represent you in the game. Casual gamers can go through this every time to enjoy the various play style changes within each class and animal type. However, more dedicated players can use a free companion app to keep track of their characters and levels unlocking new abilities and styles.

The Map

Each game is unique as players set down a random number of "cards" which builds the map. The first mission takes place aboard the ship but other missions will be on alien planets, cities, etc.

Player movement

Players move similarly to board games where they roll any number between 1 and 6 and move to that position (or any position along that path) this movement is realized in 3D with various situational animations.

Combat

Combat is a real-time rock paper scissors affair, but unlike RPS you can use special combat abilities during these rounds. Medics can use tranquilizers, Commanders can try to negotiate, Security can fire more than once. Each balanced to make combat quick and exciting.

Abilities and Puzzles

Every class has out of combat abilities as well. Some include mini games like puzzles in order to complete the task. These tasks grow in difficulty with the level of the character so even if you play the same mission multiple times your challenges never seem stale. (Assuming you use the companion app)

History

For those that have been following Vague Entertainment and/or Benjamin Flanagin you've probably seen posts about WayFinder and its evolution from one idea to the next. Now we think we have finally found the perfect mix of all the previous incarnations in this new endeavor. For those that were excited about the other ideas stay tuned as we will be announcing more about those projects (and their new names) when ever we get the funding for WayFinder we need to hire more help.
