RE: Complete Overview Of Unity Game Engine

in #gamedevelopment6 years ago

Hey Mate, thanks for asking, this is a little long and messy, I hope it serves as inspiration, I'm sorry I didn't have time to clean it up and shorten it

Unity is such a great platform, as a platform it could also extend its asset store to a complete digital gaming hub.

for example

If you guys at Unity wanted to create the ultimate gaming cryptocurrency, you could create a platform which allows for the utilization of all the best components of blockchain such as security, digital equity and governance. Consider this example where you create a "UnityCoin" as a platform

the exchange could consist of 2 layers

  1. a layer of SBD style dollar backed coins which allows users to trade in and out of dollars to enter and exit the system while allowing them to trade between eachother or exchange as a kind of base or standard token.
payments of UnityAds, asset purchases, iap etc could alternatively be made in this currency.
These are basically the dollars you would be paying anyway, instead put on a blockchain to allow the users to trade it freely if they so wish.
Developers could also offer to buyback digital items and reward users in this token, like a kind of burning. consider for example, the developer may know it takes 10 hours and earns them $1 in advertising for an average of 100 gold generated by the player, the developer could create an NPC that buys 100 gold for $0.10 and give players the opportunity to earn a dollar backed currency.

  2. a layer of created tokens to trade within the unity blockchain(as a kind of ICO) created by Developers or Users.
when this type of token is created, it should also create a sub reddit/steem topic style forum to associate with the token/Game title.
Developers might want to create a token to fund a game and provide an equity to crowdfunders, future earnings could be managed by Unity to be paid into token holders accounts at a ratio of ownership(like an ICO or share). Alternatively, using the asset management, Developers could offer digital easter eggs to crowdfunders(similar to kickstarter and bonus items, such as extra hats, start with extra eggs, etc).

Users might instead feel a void and want to create a project and put money together and hire/manage a team using a steemit style upvote format to present and present feedback for ideas/requests.

token holders could post and vote on change requests posted in these sub forums. These change requests could be requests for items to be added to the exchange or feature requests(people like to trade digital assets, such as RPG currencies/loot, characters, achievements etc also, users usually provide game developers with the necessary insights to better develop their games, this platform would create an open atmosphere evironment for discussing game development and allow users an ability to work together and communicate as a community with eachother and the developers.

Token holders could also choose to delegate their voting power to another user they would like to represent their stake, such as a youtuber that shares the same passions/opinions as they do. All voting activity would be transparent (similar to steemit transactions and steemd for example)

the developer tools could simply consist of :
-an api which allows them to send simple types to be stored on a blockchain database(storing assets, inventories, leaderboard information, etc)
-an interface which allows them to tie those streams of data to a representative in the blockchain exchange(for example, the developer stores currency, the players save files are sent to the blockchain, the key for currency, lets say "goldBars" is selected from the list of data available in the playerprefs like file, the developer attaches a description to it on the website and now when someone logs in, they can see they own that asset, the "goldBars". they can go to the exchange and offer to exchange them on the open market like a kind of digital asset auction house, setting their own price on items traded between them(this would allow them to themselves regulate values, gold in wow maybe more valuable than gold in diablo 3 for example, it allows them the right and opportunity to make their own value calls, which are usually really subjective anyway)

For the user, it would allow them a platform to store all their save files, high scores, digital assets, achievements.
it would also allow them(whenever permitted by the developers) to trade digital goods theyve earned within each ecosystem for a value determined by the community and gives real value to the very real "work" which is put into earning some of these digital goods(some RPG loot for example xD)

ofcourse unity would be entitled to a fee on every transaction if they so wish,

EOS would be a nice platform to do this on,

EOS, bitshares and steemit are good projects to look at for points of reference as between them they have a lot of the features we've discussed, in an already relatively successful form

I really hope this helps dude, Sorry again for the little bit of jumbling around, I'm hoping that some of these ideas may inspire you or some of your team.

Thanks again for asking, you made me feel important xD
