Even thus shall it be in the new combat system in God of War

in #games6 years ago

The developers of the new God of War are giving new details about the game that will launch in the coming months. On this occasion, Jason McDonald, the designer of gameplay, explained to Game Informer How does the new combat system:

"At first we didn't know how to insert a gameplay with an ax. The previous weapons were very associated to the character. Everything started to fit when we think about the idea of launching the ax and retrieve it, as the hammer of Thor. The combat is a bit slower than in the previous games but remains as fluid and brutal."

"We decided to use a camera closer to Kratos, over his shoulder. The problem is that it limits a bit to see the enemies behind. Here is where comes into play Atreus, the son of Kratos, which will warn us of dangerous situations.

"It took us several attempts to achieve the technology of the enemies and the control of the character to have everything in such a way as to say 'okay, even if the camera is close and you can see around you, the game works. Atreus uses a bow, so that at no time bothered us in combat."
