What is eSports and how to win?

in #games6 years ago

eSports is a multiplayer video game played competitively for spectators, typically by professional gamers.

In this tutorial I want to help you guys start making money from eSports. I personally have been betting for the past 4 years on eSports and I’ve witnessed its growth first hand, now I want to share the knowledge with the rest of you.

First of all, you need to understand that eSports isn’t just one game but a collection of different competitive games and the name is shorter for ELECTRONIC SPORTS. Now whether they are a sport, it’s for others to debate, for me it’s simply a goldmine and the next big thing when it comes to following and growth. Literally every child gets into video games in one way or another, and at some stage they get exposed to competitive gaming – they become the future eSports followers.

So let’s talk about the video games they play competitively.

  1. DoTA2 – biggest game in terms of prize pools right now with some events going over 25million in prize pool, 2nd biggest prize pool across all sports, slightly lagging behind tennis (assuming we can consider eSports a sport).
  2. CS.GO – shooter with many competitive leagues set up, there is action every single day 24/7/365 slowly becoming bigger than soccer in terms of the amount of teams and matches per day
  3. LoL – league of legends is very similar to DoTA2 and also awfully popular with some of the matches reaching millions of consecutive viewers
  4. Rainbow Six – Tactical shooter became very popular as of late with new leagues set up
  5. Overwatch – Another team based multiplayer game – thanks to its competitive league it has gained ground in the eSports industry.
  6. There are also other games such as Starcraft, Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm, CoD, World Of Tanks.

I will focus on the first 3 you’ll see me post bets only for them. Especially for CS.GO.

So as we’ve determined LoL and DoTA2 are both the same in terms of its genre, they are both multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA). Both of these games are played on an arena with upper, middle and bottom lane, 5vs5. CS.GO is a first person shooter, so different than the other two games and it is also played 5vs5.

Teams come from all over the world and matches can be played both online and offline, when we say online we talk about players being situated in their own house, when we say offline, we’re talking about players being at an event playing against one another.

All matches are always available to watch on platforms such as Twitch.tv, Facebook, Youtube and more. It’s usually available for free in HD.

TYPES OF BETS AND BOOKMAKERS

So eSports bets are slowly implemented in to every single standard bookmaker, there are few that have been doing it for a while.

You will need an account with at least 1 of the top bookmakers and the list is as follows:

  1. GG.bet best for esports right now.
  2. UNIBET
  3. EGB.com
  4. Pinnacle.com
  5. 22bet
  6. Nitrogen Sports
  7. Bovada (USA)
  8. Betonline (USA)

Other bookmakers that are recommended, but will not have all of the bets or are known for limiting their winning customers are:

So the matches across our top 3 games are played either Best of 1, best of 2, best of 3 or best of 5. In DOTA2 and LoL there is only one map so the conditions never change for players. For CS.GO it is a bit different because teams rely on different maps from the map pool, some teams are better on a certain map than others. The system for choosing maps for professional matches is CS.GO involves VETO where teams eliminate and choose a desired map so it’s fair for both of them. For example in BO3 teams will first get to ban 1 map each, then choose 1 map each and the 3rd map is chosen at random.

In LoL and DoTA2 the first team to destroy the opposite teams main inhibitor (map’s core on their side), wins.

CS.GO is played on rounds, first team to get to 16 with 2 point advantage wins but if it reaches 15-15 there will be overtime played. You have both attacking and defending team, each side is 15 rounds and matches can be played up to 30 standard rounds + overtime. You will always have a winner and there is no possibility of a draw.

Other types of common bets for CS.GO Include round handicaps, first team to win the pistol round. Under/over points, team to win map X, Correct Score as well (or map handicap).
