Uncharted: The Lost Legacy

in #gaming9 years ago

Naughty Dog is one of the most valued developers in the industry, not only for the recent The Last of Us or Uncharted 4, but also for the excellent stock of titles she has treasured since her birth. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy will be the first that will not feature Nathan Drake as the protagonist and, although originally it would be a DLC of the fourth installment, the great potential that found the equipment and its new approach with Chloe and Nadine like protagonists, unchained that Finally it goes on sale like independent title and reduced price the next 23 of August.

This time we traveled to the western Ghats (India) to control Chloe. She and Nadine, their implacable companion, will aim to find clues that will bring them closer to the fang of Ganesh, a precious relic that will be the motor of the adventure. The problem is that Asav, a warlord with a ruthless private army, also goes in search of this precious object and will be our main enemy.

The area that we have been able to play represents the largest open world space created to date within the franchise, surpassing the huge expanse of land we saw in Madagascar in Uncharted 4. Here again we will move by 4x4 or walking, being able to freely choose the Objectives to be completed at any time. To guide us we will have a map where we will point our progress, a very useful help not to disorient us.

With total freedom to choose our path, the objective will be to find three elements (bow, trident and ax) located in ancient monuments guarded by the army of Asav. When arriving at the sites we will be able to decide whether to attack frontally the enemies or to use the sigil, finding in both approaches a very polished control.

Regardless of our style, the gameplay is identical to that of Uncharted 4, something that guarantees a fantastic game experience, but whose continuity has surprised us, since controlling Chloe we expected some new skill that would slightly differ from Nathan's habitual control Drake.

We will also use a large and forceful catalog of weapons to kill enemies, including assault rifles, rocket launchers, grenades or pistols. With regard to rivals, we see few changes, with three modes of alertness and an artificial intelligence that is able to surround and protect us well, although it is not usually a complicated challenge and the enemies are not the most insightful when we use stealth.

Another strong point of the gameplay is the agile and dynamic mobility for the scenarios, with constant zones of platforms that, without being really complicated, will require us to pay attention. In addition, we will count again with the hook to hang us on protrusions and with the help of Nadine who, as was happening in Uncharted 4 with other characters, will be our faithful companion to guide us during the exploration.

In this spectacular place not everything will be kill, camouflage and climb, also find simple puzzles that will be combined with something more complicated. Undoubtedly, Naughty Dog has done a great job so that in such a large open world we find a perfect balance between phases of action, moments of contemplation and puzzles, thus recovering the essence of the saga despite the changes introduced.

However, the American study has wanted to go a step further in creating open spaces, since its objective was that the narrative is intermingled with the gameplay to advance the story in parallel. This does not mean that we have missed the spectacular cinematic that has always accompanied the franchise, however, we will find a wide variety of incentives on the stage.

As far as the audiovisual section is concerned, we are again facing an incredible video game. At the artistic level the title has an astonishing taste for details, resulting in huge and tremendously realistic environments. Vegetation, fauna, old objects, clothes, everything has been perfectly taken care of to enter this culture and the final finish has nothing to envy to what we saw in Uncharted 4. Logically, all this visual display is accompanied by an almost unsurpassed technical finish in Playstation 4.

Because of this, when exploring the map wThe video game looks at 30 frames per second (rising to 60 fps in the multiplayer) and is able to keep this refresh rate stable even in the areas with the highest graphics load. In addition, the texture of all objects and elements of the environment is very realistic, not to mention the amazing effects of particles that we will see in nature and when we are in motion. Finally, the title comes optimized for PlayStation 4 Pro with 4K resolution and HDR, which brings even more visual power to the images.

Focusing on sound, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is completely doubled in Spanish with the usual voices of the protagonists and with the quality that has always characterized the franchise. With regard to the soundtrack, we find again familiar chords, although with touches of the Indian culture.

After playing this spectacular phase in western Ghats it has become clear that the new delivery of Uncharted is a tremendously careful product (as if a fifth part was) and although it is true that all playable mechanics are inherited from Uncharted 4 And that the protagonists do not incorporate new functionalities adapted to their characteristics, the final experience offered by the title is outstanding and the story promises to live up to expectations.

With a duration that, according to the study itself, will be higher than the first three installments and less than the last, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is on its way to become an indispensable title for all those who have a PlayStation 4. In order to enjoy it we will have to Wait until next 23 of August, day that we will enter in a new and fantastic adventure.
