This Sunday the Porygon Community Day took place, which released Shiny Porygon, Porygon2 and Porygon-Z into the game. Once again it took place from 11 am through 5 pm local time. Evolving a Porygon2 into Porygon-Z during the event, or up to 2 weeks after, would teach it the Charged Attack Tri Attack. Which is a Normal-type Attack. Not really useful for any Raids battles as Normal-type attacks are not super effective against any type. For PvP the attack is also not amazing, but it does have a chance to reduce the opponents attack and defense stats. Paired with a Normal-type Mega evolved Pokémon I assume it can still dish out some nice damage in Raids thanks to the damage boost.
Porygon requires an Upgrade to evolve into Porygon2 and then a Sinnoh Stone to evolve into Porygon-Z. Because evolution items aren't guaranteed and a bit harder to come by, Niantic added a limited Research Task that lasted until the end of the event where you could get 3 of each item. It was pretty easy to do, you just had to Power-up 5 Pokémon, catch 5 Porygon and make 3 Nice Throws. Here is a screenshot of the rewards.

I was a little bit busy at the start of the event, so I just caught a few Porygon that spawned at home. Then around noon I was able to go walk outside, with my mask on, to go around and catch more Porygon. About half an hour after walking around I encountered my first Shiny Porygon!

It was really nice throughout the whole event the weather was pretty good, and in-game it was partially cloudy weather so Normal-type spawns were boosted. This meant a higher chance for good IVs, and more Stardust per capture. I also streamed part of the event for a bit over 3 hours on my Twitch channel.
Porygon2 and Porygon-Z were not registered in my Pokédex yet, because I haven't had a use for them and didn't feel like evolving it yet. That gave me the chance to have a Shiny Pokédex registry screenshot for both of them during this Community Day. It doesn't give any additional bonus, as Porygon will still have its regular sprite in the Pokédex until you click on its entry. But it does look really nice in my opinion to have the Pokédex registry as Shiny. In this screenshot you can see that.

Before and during the event you could purchase a ticket for the Decoding Porygon Special Research Task. This comes with a little story, given at the start and between each set of tasks. This required you to evolve 3 Porygon and one Porygon2, which is what I did with the Shiny Porygon from before, and with just two Porygon with bad IVs that I would transfer after. In the next screenshot you can see all the tasks, and my Porygon2 and Porygon-Z encounters from it.

The first task gave two Porygon encounters, in step 2 there was a Porygon2 encounter and with step 4 I got a Porygon-Z encounter. This Porygon-Z also knew the exclusive Charged Attack Tri Attack from the event. Their IVs weren't the greatest and I didn't include a picture of them.
Throughout the event I captured 16 Shiny Porygon. You can see those in the next screenshots. This also includes the Shiny Porygon that I evolved all the way to Porygon-Z for the Pokédex registries. It was a 3* with 87% IV, which is pretty nice for a Shiny. Other than that one I caught one other Shiny 3*, which was slightly less good.
Unfortunately I didn't catch a 100% IV Porygon, that would've been really awesome if I had been able to catch one! I did catch 3 98% Porygon, these are also included in the next picture.

This time I don't have a Lucky that I evolved during the event. Prior to the event I didn't have a Lucky Porygon in my storage yet, and I had to go somewhere before the event was over so I couldn't really trade Porygon either due to being busy with capturing. I did trade a few before I had to go, but none became Lucky. I'll probably evolve a Lucky in December then if all Pokémon from this year's Community Days come back during a weekend that month.
Overall this event went pretty good for me. If I caught less and ran away from more encounters I would've likely had more Shinies, but I prefer catching as many as I can. Besides 16 Shinies is a good number, there isn't much of a point in having that many. Just a few extra is nice in case people would like to have one from a trade sometime.
How did your Porygon Community Day go?
