The Game

Here comes Rome and her 3 families, Julius, Scipio, Brutus. That does not mean that you should command one of them, there is a great number of kingdoms and empires that are waiting for you to take command of. Every each one of them is consisted of a few towns that control the territory around them, in order to conquer and get your empire bigger you have to capture these towns. The town's elders or counsil or for Rome the republic are asking you for special missions (quests) to capture a territory or blockade a port or destroy a rebelion. By accepting and accomplishing their requests you are gaining their favor and money which you need in order to upgrade your armies and cities so that they will be able to generate more wealth and better weapons, fleets, different units, siege weapons and even better equiped generals. Territories possess materials that u need, and their production is vital for your trade capabilities as well as for your people's happiness, if they are not ok with your rule over their state they might rebel against you, which is going to damage your buildings and armies. So be smart be vigilant but above all be loved by your people.

The Gameplay

An army is capable of fighting in a quick battle which is going to calculate your armies power(units and weapons) along with your general's(if your have one) and of course your enemies, luck plays a major role in quick battle and as higher the difficulty you are playing as smaller the victorious outcome for your army. Of course there is always the choice for you to control your army yourself, and here comes the greatness of this exceptional game. If you have a big diversity among your units you can have a huge variaty of strategic capabilities. Archers, catapults, spear units, sword units, horse mounted units, hunting dog units, berserkers, throwing spear units, elephant cavalry, charioters, greek phalanx units, roman legionairs and many many more can be a part of your army, moreover each one of them has it's own special moves, like forming a wall with shields or firing flaming arrows. Imagine how many strategic moves you can accomplish to pushback or completely destroy the enemy armies. But as always an open battle alone can not judge the outcome of a war. Siege shall give the real outcome, can you defend your walls or if you are the attacker can you starve them or break their defences? Siege tactics and weapons are plently and look like the real thing. Siege towers, catapults, ladders, siege rams, and of course flaming arrows are going to assist you in defence and offence of the siege battles. And finally your cities survivability is going to be based on you food supply, if you have a port, a fleet should defend it and naval battles are going to occur. Unfortunately you can not command your fleet during battle, but still it is a valauble asset to have for defence or offence depending on situation. Finally you can form alliances, or trade partnerships, or even create protactorates out of kingdoms, but always remember trust only the head of your function since even your generals and family members can betray you for power and their own piece of land.

Final Thoughts

So people the game costs about 8 euros in steam and about 4 euros if you find it on sale. You do have your information, you do know what you have to do, be ready for battle always, and do not trust anyone, conquering Europa and Middle East won't be an easy task and it will take a lot of time. But all in all your time will be well spend in something very intresting, fun and of course difficult enough to keep you occupied all the time. Moreover the game has two different expansions that move you through time. Barbarian Invasion and Alexander's war against Persia (this will add even more fun and time to your game.
