Microsoft's Macro Economy
Rumours about Microsoft launching two next-gen consoles in 2020 have gained traction. One of them will be for entry-level gaming, while the other should have a price tag similar to the Xbox One X. They seem to seize the opportunity left open for the more casual gamers, as there has not been news on a Wii follow up yet.
Nintendo has held the casual gamer market since their first Wii, but they seem to have forgotten all about it since the Switch's success. If Microsoft manages to fill in for this audience while also maintaining their usual role in the traditional gaming industry, surely a lot of doors will open up to them.
Microsoft has been all over the place lately. From virtual reality and augmented reality to casual and traditional gaming, from online services competing with amazon to an online marketplace like the Microsoft Store, they have never been so present in the technological industry before.
Ironically, their worst product nowadays could actually be Windows 10.
Now I think about it, Casual Market right now is only dominated by mobile... The Wii was really good at its time!
Yeah, pretty much noone is getting a Wii U these days, but the market is still there.
