How to get a Pokemon TCG Online collection started fast! (Part 2 - Commons, Uncommons, & Rares)

in #gaming7 years ago (edited)

Howdy once again y'all, a few days ago I laid out an introduction on how to get your only collection going very fast with just a few codes here so that you can play real, meaningful games as fast as possible

That covered how to get all the types of trainers you need, today I am going to cover how to get the pokemon common, uncommon, and rares from every set as fast as possible. Fortunately like before it takes relatively little codes to get EVERY single one of these in the standard metagame, although older metagames can be quite a bit harder as people have less spare. If you haven't opened packs before the last few sets this will be particularly helpful, because in another year or so these cards will start to get much harder to pick up.

As before the steps are the same, just getting different cards back :)

First step you will need a few unlocked packs, either from your own "real life" booster packs, or maybe purchased from a place like ebay or another community.

Second step, you also probably need to play some tutorial games (although you can play on the ladder too) to earn some tokens - you need at least 8 tokens to make a trade happen. If the trade works you get the tokens back so you can trade again, otherwise you are out of luck ;(

Third step after getting any packs or tokens you can navigate to the trade section with this button and then click trade, and create public trade

Fourth step like before straightforward 1-2 pack trades are going to get the job done for every set in standard. I did not walk through every single set this time because it would be about 20 trades and they all work the same :) Like before Double Crisis & Generations may be a little more complicated (but like with trainers there is basically nothing you need in either of those sets in the c/u/r categories, maybe Aqua's Grimer).

Fifth step you make the trades! If a rare trade fails with 1 pack I would go ahead and up it to 2, I started with the oldest sets as examples because they would be the hardest to get, so everything else should go even smoother! If anything the common/uncommon trades, you can actually get more per pack than this, but for the fastest trades possible and guaranteed going through this is also fine... if those fail I would give them another go before adding more packs, as theoretically 1 Sun Moon or Guardian Risings pack should always be an overpay for anything less than 200 recent commons/uncommons.
