3 years ago, I started recording games because I love games and making content. XD During those times, I would encounter some random PC problems and I was also diagnosed with ADHD and later on autism which disrupted my momentum. I wasn't able to build that habit so I just forgot about it and also got into a lot of different interests between those.
Despite a long break, the interest was still there, so I promised myself that I will finally start streaming. Of course some random problems happened as well but I was tired of being stopped by tiny problems so I pushed through anyway and started hitting that "start streaming" button.
The first stream
The main reason that attracted me to streaming is that I want to practice communicating to people and just talking in general... while also trying to focus on the game. It is a challenge for me and it's a perfect balance of meeting my ADHD and autism needs.
I was quite nervous on my first stream but I was also taking alprazolam (for sleep) that also worked nicely for my anxiety so it made it less scary. I really wasn't expecting to have someone on chat so I was preparing to talk to myself (that I constantly do anyway).

The game that I chose to play for my first stream was Subnautica since I really wanted to play this in a long time and also it's a chill game that allows me to talk with no pressure (and talk to chat as well if there's any).

Well, despite not having any followers and not posting outside of Twitch, I really wasn't expecting to have a viewer let alone chatters. I think maybe because Subnautica has a lot of fans and they constantly watch gameplays despite having played the game many times.
It exceeded my expectations because I always hear Twitch has bad discoverability.
I had a lot of help with regards to the game from the viewers which I didn't know was gonna be fun to have instead of just discovering things yourself.
First raid

On my fourth day of streaming, I got my first raid! I think I got 7 followers at that time. That was something unbelievable cos I'd never thought I'd get them this quick. XD
I also didn't know how to welcome the raiders, I didn't know how to react cos I wasn't thinking about getting a raid yet. Next raids should be better since I realized I should pause my game and give my attention to them and introduce myself I guess. :D
Latest stats

I'm on my 12th day of streaming (stream around 4x a week) and I'm very happy with my current status. 7 average viewers is more than what I've expected. I'm close to hitting affiliate with all organic stats and I didn't expect it would be in less than a month.
I'm also learning other stream-related things like alerts, points, overlays, etc. but I'm taking it slowly cos I want to focus on quality content and engagements first before anything else.
My Twitch channel

Here is my Twitch channel if you'd like to follow:
There's not a lot there yet cos I'm taking it slow. :D
I play Subnautica currently on streams but I will also occasionally play other games (such as horror ones that take only 1hr or so) on some days. I want to finish Subnautica first before moving to playing other long games. I'm planning on playing Resident Evil franchise, maybe Portal, Half Life, etc (not in order lol).
But yeah, come chat if you'd like, or let's get out of our comfort zones together! I really focus on talking and engaging with people so if you'd like to hang out with me that would be really nice. :D
I also have a Discord channel if you want to hang out there.
See you around! :D
Wow, those are some amazing stats and to have it in such a short time shows you're doing something write.
I'll head over and give you a follow, and try and jump on next time you're streaming.
The hardest part of doing anything is getting started (and sticking to it) so I love seeing people getting good results from their venture.
One piece of advice when I got when I started streaming was, "get used to talking to yourself," but it seems like you have plenty of people to talk to during the stream.
Onwards and upwards.
Yeah it's amazing right? I also couldn't believe it. I also agree so much on the getting started part. I have that struggle too and that's why even on my not-so-100% days, I still stream because I wanna be consistent so that becomes a habit and becomes easier for me too.
There are still times that nobody says anything but I am getting used to talking as well, even just narrating what I am currently doing.
Thank you for the follow! :D
It is a nice feeling when you get affiliate, I remember the feeling of just having some people viewing and chatting and slowly growing to have a few more.. it feels so good!
I miss streaming. Congrats on what should be affiliate now, looks like you are doing well as people are coming in and enjoying ot, so of I catch you on one time, I will chill for a bit!
I'm an affiliate now, thank you for the follows! Yeah even just viewing already feels good and appreciated. Especially if they don't even know you yet.
I do my best to make people feel welcome and seen, as what I feel as well when they visit.
Why did you stop streaming?
The viewers feeling included and noticed help keep them around!
I stopped due to my PC not being the best anymore and also, had a lot less spare time so it made streaming hard.
sweet! you got another sub! congrats on the grind!
Yaay thank you very much! I appreciate it a lot. :D
Thank you for sharing your story with us. It’s truly inspiring to see how you overcame obstacles to finally start streaming what you love. Your courage and determination are admirable. I wish you every success in your streaming journey, and I hope to see lots more incredible content that you’ll share with us in the future. Again thanks
Thank you! :D I always give up easily when there are obstacles cos it's either I lose interest or I get distracted that I start doing other things haha.
That's so cool! I also have ADHD and struggle to start streaming as well, after a bit over 2 years since I opened my YT gaming channel. Hopefully, one day I will return on here with the same news. You definitely gave me a bit more courage! ❤️ Wish you lots of luck and a chill and beautiful experience out there with not too many trolls and bad people in the chat! 🤡
Right?? You know the feeling!! I always say to myself before I start streaming, I need to have the perfect audio, camera, setup for the background, overlays, etc etc.. Then I just said fuck it and let's go hahah and it wasn't even bad. A lot of those things that made me delay don't really matter that much.
I was also thinking about you the other day when I was streaming since I know you've been active on YT as well. I hope I inspired you and let me know once you start streaming as well so I can support you. :D
Haha yeah trolls are something I also mentally prepared with but tbh, there's nothing so far. And if they do there's always automods or you can just ban them. Those things also made me overthink but I promise you it really wasn't bad, in fact my experience is good overall. :D
That is really great to hear! Do you thing girl! ❤️
Nice to see that streamer family is bigger by having you ;)
That's so sweet, thank you! :D
Subnautica is quite trending so I guess it's normal to get some attention... Not my genre, I'm into rts but I don't think many stream them lol
Yeah there's Subnautica 2 in early access so a lot of people are also playing Subnautica 1 again. I'm not sure, but there are a lot of streamers out there that play games I've never even heard of lol. Even the ones that are 20+ years old. I saw one playing Warcraft Frozen Throne like damn I didn't know you can still play that online lol
lol it's not a surprise, theres still people playing original Red Alert one which is like 30 years old
nice, how its feel do streaming? i have never do it but looks good to talk with others without go out :D
It feels fulfilling in a way that you are able to talk to people and also become a better communicator lol, and also while doing what you love - playing.
beautiful
Thank you!
I was staring at your cover pic thinking that you look really familiar, maybe my daughter watched some of your videos about that long ago. Subnautica looks like one of those games I would play if I still played anything other than Minecraft these days ^_^;
Yay for things going well :)
Haha yeah maybe! I had those videos posted here on Hive as well. I heard Subnautica is kinda like Minecraft so you're gonna enjoy this I think. I've never played Minecraft that's why I can't really say. XD
Thank you very much :D

I think your discord link expired :(
Oh, what does it say when you click it? It does still say the invite is still active on my end
I always wanted to create something similar to Twitch raids but for Hive accounts' posts, maybe at some point we can figure out how to do it in a fun way when there's more people around again!
Good luck with your streaming! I'd start doing it on multiple platforms!
WTF is a twitch raid?
It is where you start violently twitching to all the voices in your head!
Haha nah, someone ending their stream and bringing their viewers over to another streamer, usually around the same or similar thing as they were playing.
It's when a streamer brings their current viewers to another person's stream. So instead of them just ending their stream and the viewers also just stop watching, they raid a channel instead so the viewers don't have to find another channel to watch (or they can leave as they please)
no, it's what i said
usually when a streamer's about to call it a day they can "transfer" their viewers over to another streamer so they can continue watching whatever they're streaming automatically, this is sort of like a sign of support as they could just not do that.
Send them to me.
ew what will you do with them
Stream me reading posts.
what accent
Yeah that sounds like fun too, but can't imagine how that would work yet. XD Thanks! :P I'd focus on Twitch for now as it's the best for engagement currently. The other platforms I will explore once I'm settled or something. :D
We pick a deserving person then everyone goes and reads the post and showers them with comments and votes! OCD RAID
