...and technically I'm not -- I've been playing Project Ascension. 😁 Which is entirely @thegoliath's fault.
I was happily embedded deep within the Star Wars universe, determined to never touch anything WoW related ever again, looking forward to getting my light-side sorcerer through the initial three chapters and hutt expansion so she could at last meet the wonderful Theron Shan, when suddenly my Discord bings.
"Have you ever played Project Ascension?" he asks.
"Never even heard of it," I reply.
"It's a Classless WoW! It's great!"
Thinking to myself that he meant another typical WoW-clone like all MMO's are these days, just, without a class system, I did a quick google and discovered that he literally meant a classless World of Warcraft.
Want to be a Rogue who can call down a mighty Paladin's hammer and heal with the finesse of a Holy Priest? OKAY!
Want to be a Warrior who can transform into a Kitty Druid and pickpocket some poor fool? YOU BETCHA!
Want to be a Hunter who can shoot fireballs from their fingertips whilst arrows fly? ALRIGHTY THEN!
Unfortunately, I can't be a Blood Elf. The servers aren't quite up to Burning Crusade level yet. But, that's fine; I'm happy being an ugly, slobbering undead for now, devouring my enemies every few minutes. Om nom nom.
It took me a long time to work out what I want to play as; there are just so many possibilities! I started out with the wonderful idea of becoming a super healer!! But then realised all of the servers are pvp. Okay, I thought to myself, I'll be a healer with a hint of rogue! ~ But then I worked out the system and realised I could be a whole lot more...
...so much more!
My very first character in proper World of Warcraft was a Human Fury Warrior named Byndii who suddenly transformed into a Blood Elf named Ellukha when I decided Alliance sucked. Hang on, let me dive into some ancient facebook screenshots and fish her out for you...
When I was a fresh-faced newbie I would have loved for her to have a pet. I also would have loved some self-healing abilities that didn't involve a well timed Victory Rush, Bloodthirst and Execute. I was very adept at it, I loved my Fury Warrior, but I would've loved to have been able to throw a Flash Heal on myself, or bubble myself before I Charged.
Now... I can. 😈 And that's what I've chosen. To live my first WoW Character's dream!
Unfortunately, because I haven't played this game in so long I've forgotten important things like, "Speak to green exclamation marks to unlock flightpaths!!!" while remembering silly things like the location of every mining node thanks to days upon weeks upon months of non-stop farming.
I don't really feel the need to obsessively play this like I would have years ago, but it's nice to have another option of something to play when I get the urge, and it's freeeeeee, and being able to create your own amazing class is... amazing! Although, I do miss my toybox filled with goodies, and my heirlooms, and my mounts I spent countless hours farming for. Raven Lord, I'm looking at you! Ohhh, and so much fishing for my Turtle, and alllllllll of those completed reputation grinds. Ugggh.
So much grind. Many hours. Little reward. Too much guild drama. Elitists everywhere. I don't know why anyone normal would ever want to play this game. xD

But this is pretty refreshing. At the moment I would recommend this version of WoW over the real thing any day. Plus, just look at the launcher!!

And you love it, or you wouldn't have spent hours playing it on your first day. ;)
But it's just so easy to phase out from reality and mindlessly kill everything for hours on end XD -- when a certain dinosaur pet isn't pulling everything from twenty kilometres away anyway.
Should've gotten a shock dragon like me :D
Hahahah i have said the same of so many games but you know how it is when you start to remember, like i have been doing some post about my olds mmo and just for that im about to download one of them, but I'm going into POE (for now) too until new archeage server, but im not good to play hardcore.
Haha! :) Not good enough to play hardcore? xD Neither am I! I've died three times today! :D I'm terrible! Still 12ish hours til the end of the race....... debating whether or not to try oneeee last character.
Never played WoW before. I'm not fan of MMOs (they take so much time.) But I'll check this website.
It is pretty fun. :) but yes - they do take so much time! I have far too many hours spent in various MMOs, some of those hours I regret... but all in all, I was happy at the time so in the end I guess they were worth it. :)
