Porn is certainly not a new phenomenon. If anything, it’s probably one of the oldest art forms that have ever existed. But in recent years, we've seen the “pornification” of gaming becoming a common thing with popular franchises. Not saying that it wasn't happening in the past, just that these days it’s happening more often than ever
So let’s begin with the most important thing that needs to be said. The pornification of gaming characters is actually a good thing for the industry at large. While this might sound sort of weird, just think about it this way. Movie characters, characters from tv series and book characters have been used in pornographic fan-art for decades now and it never hurt any of those entertainment media. If anything it has only bolstered the love the fans have for the characters because they can now see them in … all of their glory. And creating this sort of fan-art only shows the dedication of the fans towards these characters.
The old school stuff
I’m not gonna say when the first video game porn happened because, well, nobody knows for sure. But probably one of the first time it happened on a larger scale was when the original Tomb Raider was released and soon after that, the famous rumor that there is a way to see Lara Croft naked.
There are of course many examples of older gaming character being pornified and usually, it would be a character from the really big games like Mario. In my opinion, the reason for that is that these sort of games were the only ones where people got really invested into the characters. And there were plenty of games with more enticing lore compared to these games, they never really caught on in that big of a manner to have people love their characters.
The recent times
This phenomenon only increased in quantity in the recent years and the game you can see the most being turned into porn these days is Overwatch. Man, is there a lot of Overwatch porn out there. But the thing that is probably the most fascinating is the fact that fans have actually started to create Overwatch porn even before the game was released.
Apart from Overwatch, the most common game themed porn out there is probably Pokemon porn, though here it can be argued that the anime series has more to do with this than the games, I would say the reasons are probably about 50/50.
In the end, I really want to stress out the fact that the fact that people are drawing their favorite characters in sexual scenes isn't really a bad thing. It’s just a way some of the fans try to show their love for the characters. I will admit that I do not understand this particular show of love, but I will also not condemn it because I do believe that it will actually help the gaming industry in the end.

Would still love to DVA Stuff and agree I think it is both good and bad for the gaming industry....only for the reason that the younger audience may not be able to distinguish the difference, however that is ultimately the parents responsibility.
