Today is a very special day for trainers and for Pokemon Go. Niantic just announced that the Kanto Event will be happening today at 1 pm EDT.
This will feature all of you favorite Pokemon from the Kanto region such as Snorlax, Squirtle, Pikachu, and many more! This event will help anyone who is trying to get their gold Kanto badge to progress in their Mew Research Quests. As an added bonus to this trainers will also be getting double candy for every catch they get, this is useful on the rare Pokemon like Lapras and Snorlax, so get them while you can, if you do not have them in your pokedex. It will also help during community day scheduled to be on Sunday April 15. In addition to the candy, Aerodactyl and Snorlax will be raid bosses during the event as well. If you can not find them in the wild, then you can get them in raids.
There is a rumor that there will be the release of all the shiny variants of all the original Pokemon found in the Kanto region. (Note only a rumor but I believe twitter and facebook will be loaded with pictures of new shinies.) This will help everyone catch every Pokemon they see and try to catch a shiny.
There will also be special boxes that will contain raid passes to help you get those Aerodactyl and Snorlax raid bosses.
This event will end on April 17 so get out and get your double candy while you can.
