2000 – 2005 – The “Golden Age” of Pioneering FPS Gaming (Ft, Bunny Ears / Rabbit Ears)

in #gaming2 months ago (edited)
There were a lot of early FPS games, and I must admit, unless I trained particularly hard at them I wasn’t the greatest, despite the fact my “gamer army” dogtags from the Pure Pwnage days are “Teh Gunslinger” that had more to do with me being a darktower junkie at the time, rather than actually being good at FPS.

All be it, there was that time, me and bunny, got really good, at Deagle battles, babe, I beat you that match, how you doing these days dear? Kiss kiss <3 xx

Quake and Unreal Tournament were popular among early online FPS gamers, but, truth be told, for anyone in the know, the real “meat and potatoes” as they say, was actually Painkiller, the first one, that was the age of Fatality, one of the first, true, FPS legends, and by gosh was he fast, for his day, personally, I never knew him, but everyone who was anyone knew the legends,

FPS People of the time, of that gamer vintage, all played Counter Strike: Source, which, of course you played, because you “had to” not that everyone wanted to, you know what? I flipping HATE Dust 2, do like Aztec, and LOVE office, that’s where me and Bunny always used to Dual, and Janey, how are you also Milday ? :D (im well) hows your sister? Ok ill stop :P

lol behavioural psychology, everyone be like "So whats the origins of his "thing" for UK girls ... Cornwall ! pretty much, hahahaha, hope you are yours well my friend. Anyway.

But,

Painkiller, this was a very fast paced, deathmatch style game, and from a music point of view, I was very early on in my roots of studying the gothic subculture of music, as you do, when your young, dark and broody and mysterious, on brand, however, the soundtrack is a classic! Real had core americano mainline gamer metal, don’t get me wrong, everyone of that vintage loves Frank Klepacki for the westwood stuff, which was just phenomenal, still is, in my opinion, shame its weird to listen to half of it given present geo-political situations, but hey, as I always say, art is art.

I seem to recall, I was the only one who actually played this game, like, the only one, in the PPTS community, if memory serves, if anyone else did, no one ever talked about it that's for dam sure, you probably did, in reality, kick my ass a few times Fatality, i did jump online, occasionally, oh yeah, Tribes 2, that, is what i trained on, but thats earlier, much earlier, also, a great title, incidentally, why i was always so good at Planetside and Planetside 2, because, similar jetpack Mechanics, i had assumed, some code overlay, or copy pasta etc.

If your interested, in very early, online gaming culture, particularly in the FPS genre, despite the fact, of course, we had a lot of myths, and a lot of us talked ourselves up, (as blokes do) Fatality, really was, top tier, at that time, and that place, and he was a Painkiller player, multiplayer, clocked the charts ,top tier ladder, all that jazz, and I don’t actually think, he was part of the PP community, if he was, I certainly never met him, I kinda think its impossible that he wasn’t, given the time overlap, but if he did, certainly kept himself silent, Ximensions might know, he had all the forum data, pretty sure D3 archived all that yeah? will have to ask. lol, the "Artchive" hahaha !

Speaking of Which Xim, do you remember that time, I kept you up so late, talking random nonsense, because I had messed up and I think you were giving me a lecture, and a “behave”” chat, that then segwayed into a normal friendly conversation, that I kept you up so late, you were not on the tube when the London subway bombings happened? I remember that, im sure you do to, all good flyboy, 747’s still? Or you move onto bigger and better, mate, get on Branson's planes, that’s a gig huh?

Ahhh “Memorieeesss” early gamer culture, circa our vintage youngins,

Has anyone still got that sketch CC did? remember that one, she did on pen and paper, and its got like, everyone from those days, legit, someone's got to have it yeah? talk about art, that thing ,is historic, if an original copy exists, it belongs in a Museum tbh, imo anyway.

You got it Sapphy? Femm? Snubs? someones gotta have it, legit, i did, on older HDD's like sure i could put time and effort into finding it, but anyone actually just got it laying around?

Later, i think "Team Stealth" Days, a bit after pure pwnage, thats where i met Karateka and friends, and Kobra, and yeah, to Canada, Mr Czufis, thats when Dub Turbo got hacked by that "Cyber Army" yeah, that was a thing, but thats a story for another day i guess.

And all of this, is true :) verifiable, and factual young ones, so, remember, gotta practice ! FPS / RTS as the script, from the show says "If one wants to truly Pwn..." yeah sure, we know, its not to your tastes and styles, however, that was our day, Gaming history kids.
