The History Of Gaming (Arcade-Nintendo Switch)

in #gaming7 years ago

Hey guys. I'm sorry for not making a post in a while. It's because i have been trying to make a post about modern gaming, but i had no ideas. So, i'm going to do something about oldschool gaminng instead, and that is the history of gaming.

It first started with arcade games
Arcade games are very simple: Insert coin, play game, insert another coin. That is pretty simple. And being the start of gaming, it hosts some classics like Donkey Kong, Space Invaders and even Pacman. However, during the 80's and 90's, home consoles and computers started taking center stage. Let's start with computers: PC's are majority of gaming, so there really isn't much you can say about it. There are PC games, android emulators allow you to play android games, and console emulators allow you to play console games. It started with DOS games, and here we are in 2017 with FNaF and Undertale. Now, for console gaming: It started with the NES, AKA The Nintendo Entertainment System. It had 8-bit graphics, and was the start of Nintendo's rise to fame. In 1991, the SNES AKA Super NES AAKA Super Nintendo Entertainment System, was launched as a updated version of the NES, with 16-bit graphics. Along the way, Nintendo kept making more consoles, witch are: Nintendo 64-1996 Gamecube-2001 Wii-2006/2008 WiiU-2012.

However, back in 1989, SEGA launched the SEGA genesis, witch was their 16-bit console. In 1991, when Nintendo launched the SNES, SEGA launched Sonic the Hedgehog, and soon after, the 16-bit console wars were started. After that, SEGA made the SEGA Saturn and SEGA Dreamcast. But their consoles just could not stay afloat on the market, so they started putting their games on other company's consoles, like Sony's Playstation, Microsoft's Xbox, and even Nintendo consoles!

Back in 1989(Again), Nintendo made the Gameboy, witch was the very first Portable cosole ever. It went on to inspire other gameboys, witch are: Gameboy pocket, Gameboy color, Gameboy advance and Gameboy advance SP. The Gameboy advance SP also went on to inspire the DS, 3DS, 3DS XL, new 3DS, and new 3DS XL.
Then in 2017, Home consoles combined with handheld consoles, to create the Nintendo Switch

Well, that was the history of gaming. Hope you enjoyed.
