Should Players Be Forced to Play Meta Overwatch Appropriate?

If you play Overwatch, of course have heard of Overwatch meta right? Well, any competitive game seems to have such a meta, especially if you want to form a team with ranks of hero who have a special role ...

A lot of talk about Meta Overwatch is not ending with many complaints from the community itself and even endlessly end up being a toxic player. Should players be forced to play Overwatch meta? Let's follow the discussion!

What is Overwatch meta?

Before answering the question of whether a player is forced to follow the Overwatch meta, we will define this Overwatch meta first.

There is no definite explanation of where the meta comes from in a game. Many gaming communities agree that the notion of meta can be interpreted as the most effective tactic available in a competitive game. True or not, this understanding can already describe the meaning of meta in this context.

Meta Overwatch is just a team composition and play style that is considered the most viable and effective. Playing a hero outside the meta can be considered off-meta and most can be criticized by teammates (in Competitive Play in particular).

Currently, Meta Overwatch is not as rigid as past patches. As we know hero Mercy has been in nerf and makes other rarely selected hero support can start "show off".

Even old compositions have reappeared like meta heavy-tanks that rely on 3 to 4 hero tanks in team composition or meta Deathball, where teams form a row of meetings during a move. Many players still love the popular meta, Dive comp, but that's not the only effective Meta Overwatch at the moment.

Problems when hero picks

If you play solo, you will experience some problems in choosing a hero. Especially when in Competitive Play mode. Unlike when you play with friends, then often you can usually choose whatever hero you want.

If you have main hero, you will usually experience a discrepancy in the team. Or worse, someone chooses your favorite hero first and you should think about choosing another more suitable hero.

Well, when you finally choose off-meta hero or hero that really does not match the composition of the team, chances are you will get complaints from teammates.

Play hero

Some gamers feel that a player who has a hero in Competitive Play is a bad thing. However, if we look at the professional players, many of them are just focusing a little hero only and that's no problem at all.

Frequent play of a hero may end up with team disappointment, so at least you at least master one hero for each role (DPS, Defense, Tank, Support).

For example, I have a fairly large hero pool that is very convenient for me to play. I can play DPS heroes like Soldier 76, Genji, or Pharah, while alternatively I can also play a hero tank like Winston or Zarya.

When playing Competitive Play, I am very comfortable to play tanks like Zarya who can act as DPS or semi-tank to support the hero of the team being targeted enemy.

If anyone chooses my preferred heroes, I will usually try to communicate with the team to exchange heroes or offer other hero alternatives that can be used. Communication is the most important thing in Overwatch, so always try to communicate with the team!

If you can only play one hero, it will just be a selfish character to you. If you feel less "shine" in a match, try to communicate with the team for the hero switch.

Does the player mean to be forced to play using Meta Overwatch?

image

In my opinion forcing players to play over Meta Overwatch is an unwise thing. This is the same allowing the team to report players who do not fit their team.

And the player must play the group or with his friends if they want to play unneeded heroes in a team composition. If you want to play with the perfect team composition, then doing it with other players randomly will cause a mismatch.

Well, in the end indeed Blizzard will always "force" an Overwatch meta to some extent. Any buff or nerf hero will cause a compositional shift.

And often the question arises should Blizzard do tires against players who can not adjust to meta? Of course not?

However ... they continue to punish players who do one-trick in the Competitive Play that harms the team. Actually this one-trick player action you can see clearly, where the player uses hero that proved to be incompatible with the situation faced by the team and stubbornly refused to change hero.

Blizzard account ban punishment I think is not quite right. Perhaps warnings and restrictions to playing Competitive Play in a certain duration can be a better option.

And that's the reality ... there are still many one-trick players who do not fit the team at all, play very badly, and refuse to communicate with teammates when they politely ask the player to change heroes.

This does not mean that playing a hero that is not completely in line with the team can be punished, but by deliberately throwing a match by always using Torbjorn's hero while attacking, putting the Turret at random, and ignoring the team's requests for hero switches, can certainly be punished by Blizzard.

So, how ? What should we do?

Meta Overwatch is very complicated. This is something that will always be there and not just in the game Overwatch only. Almost all competitive games always have a meta that forces a lot of casual players to use it and one of the major roles of the meta is the professional players themselves.

My suggestion is that if you have to face a meta, try to communicate with the team and tell them what hero you can master and if in a round you can not contribute well and teammates suggest switching heroes, try to change the hero is suitable for the situation.

What if we are dealing with a one-trick that refuses to communicate? Well, the first thing to do is not emotion or blaming, because these two things will make you tilted, try to coordinate with four other players to play as hard as possible or try hard!
