Substitutes for a canceled racing season

As all major racing competitions have postponed/canceled their races this season, you might have an itch for some racing events to follow. Good news! There is actually some to be found.

Two days after the cancellation of the opening race of F1, two different organizations launched sim-racing events to give fans coming out of winter hibernation something to watch. First event was The Race All Star followed by not the AUS GP. In less than two days they managed to get everything organized and both broadcasted (streamed) events featuring professional drivers from various championships, pro sim-racers and highly skilled "regular" gamers that qualified to participate. Max Verstappen being the most well known F1 driver to participate, and to the delight of us Swedes, Felix Rosenqvist (from Indycar) competed as well. For those into sim-racing already, the likes of Jimmy Broadbent and Rudy van Buren could be recognized.

This weekend F1 joined with an official event and will presumably continue to run for each canceled race in the calendar.

Starting on the 28th of march Indycar will launch with a six race event. It seems they might be able to deliver something of a mini-season with six races that go together. The other events are more each race on its own, with new racers coming and leaving for each (at least so far) event.

While both the official F1 and the not XXX GP events are the most aesthetic to look at, I have found The Race All star events to be by far the best of the events. Jack Nicholls and Jolyon PalmerJolyon Palmer does a fantastic job as commentators and the racing itself has been more professional.

Anyway, plenty to watch and all are free to enjoy!

Buzz on!
