Darkest Hour: A Hearts Of Iron Game, is an independent Hearts Of Iron game developed by a group of experienced Paradox forum mod creators. The game is more advanced and realistic than the Hearts of Iron II and includes a mix of short and exhaustive campaigns through the darkest episodes of the 20th century. Play from the outbreak of the Great War to the beginning of the Cold War (Or play longer if you know how to modify the game to last until 1991 or longer, but you won't have any additional events).
In the video game we can control a series of different nations (All that existed at that time as Germany, United States, United Kingdom, Soviet Union, France, Italy, Spain, Brazil, Argentina, South Africa, Australia, Nationalist and Communist China, among others. This is a province that is adjacent to the sea), and to be able to arm your army, so much terrestrial, naval and aerial, with which we will have to fight for our survival if we are a small nation or to conquer other territories.
History

France, due to the war would have lost a significant part of the population (1.4 million dead and 4 million wounded), due to the First World War, for this reason imposed such harsh conditions in the Treaty of Versailles (Although most countries rejected these harsh sanctions because they were too strong for any country), for which Germany would have to pay a strong indemnity to France, which could not pay and would have to give Alsace-Lorraine, the African Colonies, give the Memel Zone to Lithuania, give Danzig to the newly independent Poland, the cession of the mines of Saarland and the industrialized zone of the Rhine and finally the embargo of its merchant fleet, arms and the imposition of only being able to have 100000 active soldiers. In the end, due to these impositions and the great French debt, France put strong pressure on Germany for its payments and in the end the two nations ended up in bankruptcy and worsened with the Great Depression, in the end French diplomacy and politics would be plagued with riots and corruption (Oustric Case and Hanau Case) and would be very weak at the international level as it could not participate in the decision making of the different crises that the first German, Italian and Japanese conflicts had.
The video game consists of trying to be the maximum power in the world by conquering the strategic provinces which will give us victory points (such as; Moscow, Berlin, Paris, Rome, Naples, London, Stalingrad, Leningrad, among others), although we can also set some goal, such as play faithfully to history, play a small nation and make it big or simply play with a nation in the middle of the war as Belgium, Denmark or Greece and try to survive. We will be able to take our government from Left to Right or vice versa, Militarist to Pacifist, Planned Economy to Free Market, among others. Giving us different ministers which will give us some advantages or disadvantages (Increase in the production of resources, advantages in diplomacy, etc), and if we change these ministers when a change of government is made for elections, it will generate dissension among the population which will not be very serious if we do not have it in a very high amount. And it's a very interesting game and it's worth trying.
