Dirty Bomb: The best free to play game on steam?

Browsing the Steam free to play sections can become very depressing. Especially if you are into shooters like me. Many F2P shooters uses microrotations to earn money. But the way they do it, is horrible. Making premium weapons more powerful than the standard set, is not the way to go about it. This is where games like Dirty Bomb, Warface and Team Fortress 2 comes in. In these games, the weapons are more balanced out. Either the micro transactions are for cosmetics only, or you will only get a gun that suits your playstyle more. So, forget all about stealing your moms credit card, and jump straight into the action.

Since this a review of dirty bomb I might as well talk about the gameplay. Think of a hybrid between Call of duty and Counter strike. Take the best game modes from Counter strike, take the fast-paced gameplay from Call of duty, and then you will have a hyperactive toddler called Dirty bomb.

Dirty Bomb is all about completing objectives. As the advancing team, your job is to plant C4 on targets, open doors and gates, or protect and transport an EV to a specific location, all within a given time limit. On the other side, your enemies do everything they can to keep you from advancing. After the first round, the match enters a short intermission where the teams swap sides, switching from defense to offense and vice versa. You can also play stopwatch, which is objective mode except that the team that accomplishes its goals faster is the winner.

Dirty bomb is also a Character based game. Imagine team fortress 2 classes. Picking the right team comb is not a must here. But it will sure help you in the long run.
So, let’s talk real world money. Dirty bomb is built upon the idea of loadout cards. As you play you will Credits which can be used to purchase equipment cases. These cases have a fixed percentage to drop a card. See the picture:

If you have more money to spend on the game then the in-game currency, then you can cases with higher percentage for more bling. more exp eq case.png

It’s not required to spend money on the game. But grinding can be a lot harder. You must buy each merc in the game. But they have a free merc rotation every week. This gives you the opportunity to find the playstyle you like and stick with it. If you are serious about this game I would recommend you bought a starter pack. They cost 20 dollars on steam and will help you out a lot in the beginning.
But if you rather grind it out then you can be able to do it.
A merc cost around 50k. You can grind credits through Merc.png
Missions you receive every 3 hours.
I have personally played the game for 38 hours. It’s a great game
But you will have to grind your way through the mercs.
Which WILL become annoying.
But I recommened this game if you have no money. This is in my opinion the best f2p game on steam.

A very pertinent set of points that you make @zeros. :c)

I must confess that I don't use steam (tempted but not until I upgrade from my 10 year old laptop) and so micro-transaction tactics are a little alien to me. Even so - you convey the hurt well.

I personally think that premium power creep and 'queening' sends a negative vibe to a player base and that, like you seem to suggest, the true power should lie in convenience - skipping some grind. Thanks for the thought.

No problem my friend. Glad you enjoyed it :)!
