Reliving my Tribes Ascend experience

As I like to replay the titles of my childhood, this was one of those responsible for me to spend so many hours glued to my monitor. A completely frantic, fast and super fun game. All good things come to an end sometime, and this was no exception, nowadays the official servers are disabled, only the servers of the community members that remained over the years are active, there are just under 50 people playing in the afternoons and mostly in the evenings.

Gameplay is the highlight of Tribes Ascend, relying mostly on two game modes, Capture the Flag and Team Deathmatch. The players are divided into three types and each one has three subclasses for a total of 9 classes; The Light are conformed by the Pathfinder, useful since it is the fastest class of all, mostly used to steal the flag or go after whoever took it, they are not very resistant in fights against enemies with heavy weapons. Sentinels are the sniper class and perhaps the most difficult to use since in a game where players go very fast, reflexes and prediction are your only allies. The Infiltrators are in charge of disabling the enemy defenses since they must sneak into their base and destroy the generator, they have a cloak that makes them invisible for a short period of time, although many use this class to stealthily go for the flag; The mid are made up of the Soldiers, they are like the standard class, they are useful in any situation, whether fighting, stealing the flag, to infiltrate and destroy the generator. Raiders are the expert marksmen, their weapons are the ones that cause the most damage in the game, they have a shield that will keep them in the battle for a long time and they have grenades of great range to cause the most enemy casualties. The Technician is one of my favorite classes since they are in charge of defending the base against possible enemy attacks, placing turrets in strategic places, claiming in case a curious person approaches where they should not, they also have a tool to repair generators damaged by the enemy, cars and their own turrets; The Heavy are notable for being very slow and are formed by the Juggernaut, they have what you could say a fusion grenade launcher, useful for eliminating enemies at long range. The Dombringer, the most resistant class of all and the slowest, are specialists in receiving all the damage as a tank and can put force fields in areas where they want, but mostly they put them to cover the pathfinder's flag. The Brutes, the most powerful weapons in the game are theirs, but with a very slow reload time, useful to eliminate several enemies with their large damage radius and have fragmentation grenades useful for an ambush.

Each class has a jet pack and a ski, which allow you to move at incredible speeds around the map, most of the weapons are plasma fusion which can cause much damage to the enemy as used by you as a boost thanks to shockwave, also the pathfinder have grenades that if they cause some damage, have the quality to raise your speedometer. This mechanic I think is the most important of the game because in a way you sacrifice some of your life to go much faster in order to run away with the flag. The maps are all too beautiful, one day I will dedicate myself to only show screenshots of this title because they are simply unique and all different from each other, each one has hills and slopes to be used as ramps or slides to gain a lot of height or speed.

The truth is that it took me quite a while to get used to this game again, mostly to predict where the enemy would go, it is also worth noting that those who I face are just experts that even after the years and the abandonment of Hi-Rez even today are still playing it, they are a very healthy and united community, you can tell that everyone knows each other, but do not exclude anyone who wants to relive their glory days. Without further ado, I hope you enjoy these Highlights of my last games.
