Excellent writeup, and very informative! Eggshells are one of my favorite soil amendments on the farm. Other than manure, I do have one other favorite animal byproduct that is often overlooked by many, but I do believe it to be one of the best - chicken feathers.
Upon beginning to incorportate feathers into my composting and fertilizing schedules, I have seen significant increases in yields and plant well-being. It definitely creates a hotter fertilzer, but used in moderation can give great results. They're also great to add directly to the soil which will yield nutrients and create better draining/aerated soil in the long run.
