Problems with the tomato plants persist, even as the last bunch is about to ripen. All that is left of the garden are tomato plants, and only 2 of 6 are really producing.

Above is the link to Garden Update Day 136, and it also has the link to previous post. In this way, it's possible to follow the entire journal back to the very start.

White Flies & Moldy Mildew

We share a fence on both sides with our neighbors, as many townhouse style accomodations do. Because of this, it's very hard to control the white flies in the garden. I spray them with a soapy organic mist which helps for a while.

But the white flies simply return in a matter of days from either of our neighbor's foliage. I didn't want to spray them too much more often for fear it would burn their leaves. Perhaps I should have, because they keep doing more damage anyway.

One Lonely Tomato & Mint In The Background

I've mentioned in several of these updates how the side nearest our building gets less sunlight. The plants haven't grown as fully as the ones further away, and now they're on their last leg.

An empty stalk in the back middle is actually our Red Cherry plant. Its' bareness of leaves belies a full head of branches up top. Check it out in the image below.

Beefsteak Has No Beef Or Steak

On the sunnier side, the Beefsteak plant below made good strides in the past month and a half. For whatever reason, it simply doesn't want to bear any tomatoes. All the flowers have dried up and fallen off. Pollination doesn't seem to be an issue for our other plants. ???

Our bushiest plant, an Oregon Spring, sits on the far back corner of the sunny side of the planter. I've had to trim off many branches of late that were yellowed and dying. Still, it has some foliage left and about 14 tomatoes nearing harvest.

An Empty Lime Tree, Baby Palm, and Other Foliage

Our little lime tree in the corner of the patio had a huge annual harvest. We picked a full plastic grocery bag that weighed probably 25 pounds and another about half that size.

3 different families received a gift of a bag of limes, with clippings of mint and basil to boot! I'd call that a successful harvest that did a good job giving!!!

Sitting right next to our lime tree is a baby palm, though I'm not certain of the correct terminology. It's regenerating very well after I cut back many dried fronds.

Another tree-like, vine-like plant finishes the row on this side of our patio. I'm not sure of it's correct name or classification. It does act like a vine though. That section that fell to the ground is rooting itself right there.

Last but not least is an image of the ledge outside our kitchen window. Grandma had the idea of moving a few of these to the front area. It's bare of greenery by our front windows and rather full on the back patio.

That's me in the reflection of the window with the trees swaying in the breeze behind. Thanks for reading and as always...

Sorry for the tomatoes, is there anything you could do to bring some life into them? Your garden look beautiful as usual

Well....I sprayed the organic pesticide again and threw down some more miracle grow last evening. Gave it a watering and crossed my fingers. Hopefully the plants respond happily.

I'll cross my fingers too!
