Fort Laramie Strawberries are part of our permaculture project

Fort Laramie strawberries produces a constant supply of sweet berries throughout the growing season, they are a self-pollinating berry and grow best in hardiness zones 3-9 in full sun. They make a great addition to our permaculture farm here in Canada. We picked about 25 pounds for our needs last year off of about 80 plants.

They are great fresh or in jams and freeze very well also, so we can enjoy them all year long. We let them ripen on the plants then clean, cut, dry and give them overnight to ripen fully to become darker red and more sweeter. You can see the difference between the top two bags below. The top one was frozen right away after drying and the bottom one left over night before freezing.

You have to get them before birds slugs and bugs do. We plant extra to share with nature.

These strawberries also throw a lot of runners, some as far as 8 feet from the mother plant. We have hundreds of new plants this year to plant through out our farm.

Thanks for looking.

I have not heard of this variety before. It seems like a good one though. I prefer the everbearing types.
