Time to update on what's going on in our yard. Before anything else, check out @simplymike's garden journal challenge to know more.
We planted green beans and harvested some already but we just left it there for a little longer and today I picked what's left. This will probably be used for next season though.
Too bad that the corn did not result in anything this year. They were planted as an after thought so I guess lots of competition in growth to where they were planted. Still, hoping to see what the next weeks will bring.
Not to be disheartened though because we have healthy yakuns and taros growing. Not only that, we have cassavas and chayote. We used to grow lots of chayotes before but now there were just a few. I am still thankful for what we have now.
We also replanted basils and so far they are showing signs of good growth.
We also tied dragonfruit to one of our avocado trees. I just realized now that this particular tree is bigger now than before which makes me happy because it will replace the one that was cut by our neighbor.
Our hyacinth beans are producing as much as ever. I like to add these to chayote. Just add onions and sautee them. Season to taste and that's it. Simple dish.
Pumpkin grew by chance in our front yard. I say by chance because what we do with the peelings and seeds of fruits and vegetables is that we just distribute them in our front yard or put them in potted plants as fertilizers so it is a gamble if something will grow or not.
The sweet smell of the papaya flower is subtle such that I wouldn't have noticed it had I not gotten a whiff of it. I would have missed it for this update. This is something I am looking forward to. I am curious how it will taste.
I was surprised that there were still mangoes that made it through the rain and storms. We did pick some a few weeks ago but didn't know there were more. They give us the feeling of summer we missed.
Also, the pomelo tree have fruits. It will be a while for them to be picked.
We cannot forget our succulents and flowers too.

There are also gooseberries all around. This brings back childhood memories.
Before I end, I want to share this bananas with you. This is what's left from the garden of my dad. We shared most of it to whoever wants it. More will be ready for picking soon. Maybe I should go to his garden sometime and check it out.
Thanks for reading. Until next journal!
All photos are mine.
Again, nice shots. :)
Thanks for joining the challenge, @leeart.
So jealous to see you already have Chayote fruits, just like @mdosev.
Although my plants adore the current heatwave, it'll still be a month or so before the first fruits will appear.
Always great to see other Yacon-lovers :0)
We had the gooseberries in the garden two years ago, and even though the plants were beautiful, I wasn't that fond of the taste of the fruits, so I decided not to plant them again. However, the plant decided otherwise and I still discover sprouts all over the garden :0)
I remember we were asked by our mom to harvest chayote and sell it to the stores here because there were a lot of it then. Me and my brothers would do it every weekends. Now, it is just for our personal consumption. I hope yours will be fruitful.
I don't like gooseberries too. The name itself is unappealing lol!

I so baldy want try growing some bananas. Sadly I know from other people in my area the local wildlife will just eat them before they are ready along with bunch of other stuff I would try.
I hope you have an amazing harvest always nice to see something different. Have a great week!
I hope you can find a way to grow some. If only I can, I can send you some lol! We have too much for us when we harvest that we give almost all of it away.
