Eid Adda
Bangali people are very much fond of Adda that is hanging with friends. In all stages of life like childhood to retirement, Adda is very much needed. Those who are extrovert, normally can’t pass a week without adda. You will find a lot of adda here and there in Bangladesh whether its office, restaurant or School, college. Adda is on the blood of Bangladeshis. Adda is daily companion of Bengali people. It is said that the stomach cannot be empty without Adda. So, the topic by #bdcommunity in this week is very interesting and popular. The most common place of adda is tea stalls. There are some special Adda in our life and that is adda during Eid days. I want to share the most enjoyable Eid adda memories here. It happens twice in a year and a huge gathering with neighbors, friends, seniors, and juniors. It's very much enjoyable to pass time with friends specially in Eid days.
The majority of my friends are from Muslim religion that's why it's very much common that they come to the village home on the occasion of Holi Eid. Thus, there is a huge gathering like reunion of village people. Puja vacation is another time of special adda but it is not as special as Eid Adda. So, it’s basically gathering thrice in a year. We, friends are connected in social media. We normally make plan to celebrate the Eid days together. Sometimes we plan to have a party of eating something like mutton, grill, BBQ etc., or travelling to nearby beautiful places. Before two days of the Eid, Adda starts in the afternoon specially. Although we remain busy in buying animal for Eid ul Adha or Cloth shopping in Eid ul Fitr, but can’t miss the adda in the afternoon. We do all necessary work by afternoon. Then went to bazar normally at 5 pm. Adda continues till about 08:30 pm. We talk about the several plans related to Eid days. Share memories of previous time as we met after a while. The gossiping carries on with some snacks or tea. Most enjoyable time of the adda is trying to make fun of anyone by others. It enjoyable because by diminishing someone all others have some laugh and fun. Its not real diminishing rather making fun only. There is no senior junior at all in this adda because Eid adda very much different from others one. We talk about several issues. Once when we were unmarried, Girl Friend was the talkative topic but now its about earning, future, family matters, world’s concerning issues.
There are a lot of variations among all of us according to Educational qualification, financial condition, job status, age, colour, health etc but in adda we are same, that’s the specialty of the Eid Adda. Normally the rich friends sponsor some soft drinks and snacks but we are equal in the way of making fun. Sometimes fun with someone reaches to a extreme level then some odd or slang language has to be tolerated. We minimize such situation instantly. That’s happening. Sometimes we continue for long time upto about 10.30 pm. During Eid its not much time because all aged people can be found in adda with similar aged group from children to old. Several groups stay at several points by seating, or standing. Eid Adda is special and memorable. I enjoy Eid adda very much and eagerly wait for these days.
