Temperature Fluctuations

in #gemslast year

Springtime is fast approaching which means hot days and cool nights. Today was no exception. It started out nice enough and then the sun came out in a blaze of glory. Which was fine until the inside temps hit 80ºF. I wondered how hot it must feel outside so I opened the door and was surprised to discover it was actually cooler outside that it was inside the house.

I guess the sun hitting the windows on the western side of the house made the house warm up like an oven. I left the door open to allow the cooler air to drift in and the warmer are to drift out. It's too soon in the season to turn on the air conditioner. Summer will be here soon enough and the AC unit will get plenty of use then. In the meantime, we'll deal with the temperature fluctuations which at this stage are really only a minor inconvenience.

Sort:

We typically set our Air Conditioning for 77 F. I'd rather it be 78, but I compromise to 77 as that one degree makes it tolerable for him (I'm a bit chilly with 77).

However, since we live in a humid area, we may turn on the AC to a cooler temperature just to get rid of the humidity (since we don't have heat). Once the humidity is down, we go back to our regular temperature.

Right now, the AC doesn't come on often at our 77 setting, since the night cools the house down enough, and we'll close the shades where the sun hits the house.

Humidity adds an entirely new level of things to consider when it comes to staying comfortable during hotter months of the year.
