How to reveal private information in MyHeritage Family Tree Builder

in #genealogy3 years ago

I think quite a few of us who are interested in genealogy, study of ancestors, have used MyHeritage. Without Premium subscription or after it has expired, users get a lot of "Private" entries when using Smart Matches.

There is a trick to reveal some of those private entries.

  1. Change primary language to same as language used by other user having the same person in tree. If unsure, try English, German, Dutch, Polish, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Hungarian, Russian etc... Usually the language is same as primary language of the user, the person itself, or one of the parents, or children, or husband or spouse.
  2. If Family Tree Builder reveals birth year and/or death year of the person in main window, enter it before clicking green "Smart Match" icon... This makes sure as much information as possible already matches. Cleanup any duplicate or misspelled words only after adding all entries.
  3. When merging in the Smart Matches dialog, start by selecting and merging relatives that already have name visible, first use "Automatic merge", then reselect all entries with missing details, and select "Step-by-step merge" -> "Replace all details" -> "Next" -> "Next" -> "Finish".
  4. Before adding siblings, add parents
  5. Before adding children, add all husbands or spouses
  6. If all information isn't revealed, go back and switch to "Matches" tab and click "Update Now"... This might need to be done multiple times between merges.
  7. If "Smart Match" icon disappears, there is conflict in the details of close relatives... Try to find a close relative that still has "Smart Match" icon and compare the details... Fix any inconsistencies. If some user has obvious bad data, mark the match as "Rejected".
