How to reveal private information in MyHeritage Family Tree Builder Part 2

in #genealogy3 years ago

In first part, I did teach how to reveal private information from trees of other users. It however didn't always work when adding information while Family Tree Builder is running.

In this part I will teach how to reveal information that doesn't get revealed using steps in Part 1.

What is required is tool to search text inside files in specific directory (You can use "find" command in Command Prompt)

  1. Take note of the site name used by another user that has private information
  2. Exit Family Tree Builder
  3. Search the site name under "SmartMatching" subdirectory of your own tree, this should be under "MyHeritage" directory in Documents directory of your profile directory. Open the file in text editor.
  4. Search for family name of the person that is missing first name, or name of the wife, husband, child or parent (first names and family name are stored in different keys, so have to be searched separately)
  5. Take note of the number in WIFE-IN-FAMILY, HUSBAND-IN-FAMILY, CHILD-IN-FAMILY and INDIVIDUAL-ID fields of the person that already has all name fields filled in your profile
  6. Search value from INDIVIDUAL-ID field from other parts of the file, it should appear in WIFE-IN-FAMILY, HUSBAND-IN-FAMILY or CHILD-IN-FAMILY fields of other entries
  7. Write down all names from <INDIVIDUAL> blocks where the value from INDIVIDUAL-ID appears, the order is important
  8. Start Family Tree Builder and search for matches from the same tree as before, you should still see names missing
  9. Try writing the names from the xml file that are not already in your tree... If the name is not revealed in the other tree, try another until the name is revealed. When the name is revealed in other tree, you know you have the right name... Usually the names are in same order as you added the persons in your tree.

NOTE: Make sure you only add private persons from one tree at a time, as if you add from more than one tree, you can introduce duplicate entries for same person(s). It usually helps if you add either parents or husband/wife and children, not all at the same time.
