A pleasant early November day in the midlands, UK, and a fair amount of beer calories to burn off. Time for a walk around Watermead Country Park with some Geocaching thrown in.
We started the walk without Geocaching in mind but I wondered if there would be any sites nearby - one, that was enough to provide a little more purpose to the walk around King Lear's Lake.

King Lear's Lake, a popular fishing lake which can be circumnavigated and is popular with people walking dogs and cyclists. A statue on the western side of the lake depicts the final scene of Shakespeare's play King Lear. The lake is also used for open water swim training by Leicester Triathlon Club, and for water training of Newfoundland Dogs. source

I wouldn't class myself as a keen walker, although since I got a new ass from millions of squats this year, it has become more enjoyable. Throw in something to hunt for and I'm even more interested.

I've had a go at Geocaching in the past, and it's not been very successful. Today though, after reading the clue 'off the ground between the moss and ivy', we found a box with goodies inside.

I generously donated a bag of sugar from Costa, and a 2nd class postage stamp and so the next hunters are in for a treat! We were not the first to find the box today and I suspect it's quite a popular one. It's pretty cool that folks don't just take the boxes and or their contents, my hope for the human race somewhat boosted - or maybe that was due to watching Terminator: Dark Fate last night :)

I'd forgotten all about geocaching. Thanks for the reminders. Will be a great thing to do with the grandkids. I have some nice bits and pieces that would be perfect.

Now you come to mention it there weren't that many seagulls around which suits me. They're a bloody pest around here.
Just reading the geocaching website. I had no idea it was all so regimented. 😂
I'm going hiking with a friend on Tuesday so maybe I'll download the app and see what's around these parts. Brightonian geocaches could be interesting. 😂

There's enough with the free version - gps, description, etc. Not sure what else you need?!
Many of the caches are blocked on free version. You can only see like 5% of them.
I believe you get all the functionality just limited access to caches.
Ahh, that's a bit shit. I guess we got lucky with 1 being less than 2km away when we opened the app.
You should be able to find one or two around you but if you want to make a day of it you can’t as they hide the rest.
Not cool, but I guess they need some cash - localized adds would be better for the consumer, perhaps not for them.

Some nice shots of the swans, I watched Terminator: Dark Fate a few days ago on Amazon prime, I can still enjoy the senseless pound em to the ground and let them get back up and keep fighting movies.
I love the originals, and this one wasn't too bad in my opinion.
There was a point where a couple of the swans gave their wings a good flap, what an awesome sight and sound.
I only did geocaching once but it was quite fun. I forgot all about it.

Oh - this got the Geocaching juices flowing again.
We got the bug years ago, and did about 100 caches when the kids were smaller. But we sort of fell out of the habit. 😞
We've done a couple since we moved into the local area, because you can never really get it out of your system 😉 - but I think we may need to get back into the swing of things.
We set a trackable off back in the day - Gonzo the Gorilla - and last time I looked, he's done well over 25,000 miles. I should do a little post about him....

We have found over 250 geocaches in five years now.
It brought us to beautiful spots in nature. We usually do this during the holidays.
The Geocaching map is a good alternative to the Tourist Information 😃
