Welcome to Hang En, the world's third largest cave! The cave has its own lake with a sandy beach that is surely one of the best camping places in the world. It’s located in Vietnam and it’s the largest natural attraction in the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park. This trip is not for everyone because to get there you would have to walk 13 kilometers through the dense jungle full of dangerous animals and bombs left from the Vietnam War. You will also have to cross Rao Thaoung River 33 times in only one direction so if you are not in a good shape it is not wise to go there. After finally going through this adventure you will be fascinated by a cave that is 130 meters tall and 138 meters wide (larger than the Keops pyramid).
The river flows right through the Hang En cave which forms a beautiful lake that is perfect for swimming after all day walk. Right on the lake there is a beautiful sandy beach where you will experience the best camping of your life. We also need to mention that the cave has three main entrances. By now two kilometers of caves have been explored but the entire complex could possibly be much longer. Inside the Hang En cave you can find flying foxes that can have a wingspan of up to 1.5 meters ('real vampires'). Hang En was discovered by the Englishman Howard Limbert in 1994. Before that only local tribes have been hiding here from a rough weather. The cave was officialy opened for tourists in 2015 and only 5000 people can explore it every season so you have to book your trip early!
