Ptah, chief god of Memphis Creator of the Universe Bird created this world. He created the Universe with the help of Thought and Word. Ptah appears in the form of a man in a white shroud, with green skin, a false beard, an atef crown and a scepter in his hand. The supreme god Memphis, he was considered the father of Nefertum (from Sokhmet) and the sage Imhotep, the architect who built the step pyramid of Djoser. Creator and demiurge When only the original ocean and earth existed, Ptah, by an effort of will, created his flesh from the earth and became a god. He began to create this world and other gods from himself - the earth that he was. A Thought arose in his heart, a Word descended from his tongue, and the world changed. First, he made himself an assistant - Atum, who created the great nine gods. Having completed the Universe, Ptah established justice (Maat) on earth. How Demiurgon brought to people all the benefits of civilization Ptah built cities, founded nomes, erected statues of gods, erected their temples and established cults. He is the patron of artisans, blacksmiths, shipbuilders, carpenters, architects and sculptors. Its high priest, together with the vizier, were responsible for the construction of the burial complexes of the Pharaohs of the Old Kingdom. Having merged with the afterlife deities, he became the patron of necropolises and the conductor of the souls of the dead. 120 Chief god of Memphis In the Predynastic period, Ptah was the local deity of earth and fertility. After the unification of Upper and Lower Egypt by the pharaohs of Memphis, he turned into a creator god and demiurge, and his cult spread throughout the country. From the Middle Kingdom, he entered the top five gods, along with Ra. Osiris. Isis and Amon. It was in Memphis that the priests of Ptah performed the ceremony of the pharaoh's accession to the throne.
