in #gogreenbuddy5 years ago

Investments are usually time fold either short or long term. But whatever the case, time flies and before we know it is already by our side.
Tree plantations have in recent past especially in the Western highlands of Cameroon have served various purposes ranging from timber, fuel wood, anchoring etc (especially eucalyptus trees) which have adverse effects on our environment.
Scientific name: Prunus africana
Genus: Prunus
Order: Rosales
Family: Rosaceae
Kingdom: Plant

However, we can invest thoroughly in establishing Prunus plantations which will provide us with essential facilities such
as water, firewood, charcoal, timber (construction), poles, utensils (mortars), medicine (bark, leaf ), bee forage, shade, mulch, windbreak and a balance in biodiversity to varied animal and plant species as well as enable us to have contributed to a sustainable environment. Its investment is long term and sustainable.

Prunus africana is an evergreen tree, ranging between 10 to 36 metres height, with a stem diameter of 1 metre; bark blackish-brown and rugged; branch-lets dotted with breathing spots. It is found in 22 countries in Africa including Cameroon. Let's endeavor to contribute and encourage the investments in Prunus plantation establishment I our region and Country as a whole.

It will be great if the people especially the population of Bamenda can start investing in prunus plantation which is environmental friend and stop investing Eucalytus which may cause catchment to dry up.
