Gold panning is a fascinating activity that not only appeals to history buffs and adventurers, but is also a great way to enjoy the outdoors and maybe even find a small fortune. Some time ago, my brother @rivalzzz and I had the pleasure of visiting our friend @bechibenner on the banks of a river to experience the exciting adventure of gold panning together. In this article, I will recount our exciting journey and provide some fascinating insights into the world of gold panning.
Before we headed to the river, we learned about the basics of gold panning. We knew we would need some important tools, including a gold panning pan, a shovel and a bowl. @bechibenner was the experienced gold panner among us and brought his equipment, including a sieve pan, which would allow us to make the process more efficient.
Arriving at the riverbank, we were impressed by the natural beauty of the surroundings. The gentle sound of the water and the green trees in the background gave the scenery a relaxing atmosphere. We looked for a quiet spot where we could try our luck.
Our first step was to take a shovelful of soil and gravel from the riverbank and place it in our sifter tub. With patience and care, we rinsed the material and watched intently as the water washed away the dirt and left the heavy gold flakes at the bottom. After a while, we were actually able to discover a few small pieces of gold in the pan - an exciting moment that brought a smile to our faces.
Our discovery
After hours of work, we were finally able to collect some small gold flakes. It was an incredibly satisfying feeling to see the result of our hard work. The pieces of gold we had found were not particularly large, but they were of considerable value and would be a great reminder of our day on the riverbank.
Gold panning has a long history dating back to ancient times. During the gold rush in the 19th century, gold panning was very common in the USA and other countries. Gold was often sought using simple tools such as pans and shovels. Nowadays, the technique of panning for gold has evolved, but the basic principles remain the same.
Modern gold panners often use specialized equipment such as sluice boxes and gold panning machines to speed up the process and make it more efficient. These devices allow larger quantities of material to be processed in less time and increase the chances of finding gold. Nevertheless, gold panning is still a decelerated and meditative activity where you come into contact with nature and experience the excitement of gold prospecting.
Panning for gold on the riverbank was an exciting adventure that not only gave us valuable memories, but also some actual treasures. It showed us the fascination of gold prospecting and the connection to nature. We are grateful to have had the opportunity to try this exciting activity and would recommend it to anyone looking for an exciting and enriching experience in nature.
I was lucky enough to do the same once in Switzerland and I was very proud of my first collected gold. The next day however my back was killing me :-)
