Sunsets in the Juan De Fuca Strait with Killer Whales

My favourite time of the year to be on the water near Victoria, BC on Vancouver Island is in September/Fall. The best time of the day to be on the water is during either sunrise or sunset. Being that I more of a night person, getting up for sunrise is somewhat of a challenge. However, sunsets are amazing - especially when all the stars align and you end up with moments like the one below.

Oh wow, I am so envious! We went to Vancouver last year but it was the wrong time of year so the whale watching trips weren't running, I am following you now so I can pretend I saw them too!

Marvellous shot.

The colours / patterns / textures of the water are like nothing I've ever seen before. It looks more like a painting than a photo of an actual scene.
