Intro
Funny how Google Account (Gmail) important can be only to have no live support. We use our Google Account in so many ways; logging in to Play Store to purchase those expensive gems to give us an edge over other players, we use our Google Account to open/edit Google documents and so much more.
A lot of users who couldn't get pass the account recovery page even after entering all the information that the Google Account Recovery page (http://g.co/recovery) has asked. Most users are clueless as to what's going on, only to be told by a robot "Google couldn't verify if this account belongs to you".
Anyhow, I'd like to share to you some of the best tips on how to recover your Google Account like a Pro and some reasons behind the denial of recovery but first, let's get on with the basics first.
Basic
To be guided in recovering your Google Account, you can refer to the Login Help manual for Google Account Recovery (http://g.co/loginhelp). Basically, it's a troubleshooter and it'll ask you what specific Google Account Recovery Issue you're having. If you forgot your email, that option is also available there.
Now, this is where you go to actually recover your Google Account (http://g.co/recover). No matter how many times it'll deny you or tell you "Google couldn't verify if this account belongs to you", do not worry, because there's no limit to the number of attempts that you can try. Don't lose hope.
Maybe your other device still has your password. Maybe you forgot your Google Account / Gmail on your phone and you couldn't sign in but your desktop or laptop can login to your Gmail automatically. The reason why it signs in automatically is because it saved your password on the browser's password manager.
Here's how you can retrieve your Gmail password from your Google Chrome.
For Firefox, you can go Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: "Saved Passwords" > "Show Passwords"
...
So, you've gave it your all and still keeps telling you "Google couldn't verify if this account belongs to you". Password is not working from the saved password from the browser(s)? I know how frustrating it could be but let's examine some of these questions being asked by the Google Account Recovery system.
Examine that thing...
This is the 1st page that you go to start recovering your account (http://g.co/recover)
The moment you land on this page, the bot thinker that analyzes you is running in the background, judging you, grading you, everything you do will be use to identify you.
Tip: When you go to this page, do not use a device that you haven't ever used with your Google Account before. Got a new phone or a new computer? Try recovering your Google Account password first from your previous device (if any), if you're going to use a new device in recovering your account, at least connect to the same network that your Google Account has been used before like Home or Office internet connection as these location has the same IP address that has been used by your Google Account before. If you're going to use a different device and connecting to a new location, then please don't, you'll waste your time.
Use this option if you couldn't remember your password.
If you no longer have access to the phone that is shown by the system, click "Try another way". It wouldn't ask you for a phone number if you don't have any phone number setup on file though. Never enter a phone number that is not registered on your account or it will think that you're a foreign user trying to break in.
If it asks you something like "Get a verification code Google will send a verification code to you•••••••@otheremail.com" then go for it, cause that means that email has been setup on your account. If you no longer have access to that email, click "Try another way", it will then ask you some security questions that you may have setup before. If it doesn't ask you for security question and goes to ask you "Please enter an email where we can contact you". It means you haven't set up a recovery question and that's the end of your attempt. Don't try again, go back with the same device or same IP address.
If all else fails...
Go to https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!forum/gmail and create your own thread by submitting a new topic https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!newtopic/gmail.
The moderators from these forum board will ask you several questions and help you investigate your account, if it can't be fixed, the moderator will most likely endorse your issue to Google, to someone who has access to all of our Gmail / Google Account information.
If the moderator couldn't endorse you, try sending an email to [email protected], it could take awhile before you can receive a response though.
Best of luck.
