Well, it was very useful as a graphic artist - my days before a full time father of two toddlers and a business to run 😋. I had some great opportunities that were generated from my google plus days! I worked for some big companies and even worked with some Google related projects. I met some incredible people, many whom have since moved on to other platforms. I had many great things that were derived from my activity there on G+.

I left my g+ after my son was born. He required open heart surgery at 6 days old and two additional surgeries since, so that's been my focus entirely for the past few years. He is almost 4, healthy and thriving now with a little sister (age 2). I walked away from my business, my professional network, and I never once looked back. It can all be rebuilt again. Not often do we get a chance to nurture life and share that time with those we love - so I figured I started once, I can start again some day. That day has come. Time to rebuild.
I still maintain contact with those special folks that I've met over the years, @finnian has been one of them since the early days of G+ for me. In fact, he is the sole reason for my presence here. He not only invited me here, he inspired me to pick up what I'd put off when I left G+. I'm so glad to have some really awesome people around me because Steemit has already become a great outlet for me. I deeply need Steemit to satiate my creative appetite.

I'm not on FB and G+ changed so much during my absence that I was virtually lost upon return. I just couldn't figure out the communities and collections thing - seems to help everything get lost in the sauce. I can say that the very early days of G+ - was the best time to find some brilliant people. I believe that is the case here on Steemit. It is hard to get so much talent in one place! I'm loving it here @steevc

Wow, you went through some difficult times. It can be hard to start again on-line as you need to reconnect with people. We are all spread across lots of social sites and they don't always overlap. Only a few close friends have come to Steemit so far, but I hope others will in time

We all go through difficult times, buddy. There are always those that have it better, but also many that have it worse. I'm blessed that all has worked out the way it has. And yes, it can be very difficult to return to social media after a hiatus! I have found it quite challenging to return to the same level - it took a long time! Thankfully, I kept contact with several great people over the years and the value of that might actually outweigh the rest. Like you mentioned: Quality, not Quantity. A few quality people can make rebuilding much easier and enjoyable - that's where I'm at. I've helped many people in my days and many of them now able to help me. It's a beautiful endeavor and a worthwhile pursuit at that. Haven't forgotten about you either @steevc, sending you some picks this week for that great collection ;) I also found a pretty cool item I received as a gift (guitar related) - it's a mini Fender strat guitar! I found it while digging around for those other picks. Wanna see? I can share a photo here or in chat - just want to be respectful.

I don't mind you sharing the picture here, or do your own post and give us the link

Hopefully you find this as interesting as I did when my wife brought it home years ago..

Added some cherry tomatoes in there for scale 😋

I'll make a post also, but consider this the exclusive sneak preview..haha!()

has a cool stand and case! I owe it a thorough cleaning, but when I found this I thought you might enjoy it @steevc *note: this should 'accordion' into the thread, but if it is a bother I can gladly reduce!

That's cool. I don't have anything like that

I collect all sorts of odd things. 😋
